ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.

I thoroughly enjoyed every day of the "Riding the Root River Trail" program in Minnesota. The location was fabulous, the biking exhilarating and I gained confidence in my biking as well as gaining knowlege of this area of the country. The theater programs were wonderful and it was a thrill to attend two during the week. The program leaders were very committed to making this an excellent program and this showed throughout the week. I appreciated that we were kept busy with a variety of activities each day and through these activities were able to learn a great deal about the area we were visiting. The program and location was of high quality. The program made me feel rejuvenated and wanting to attend another Road Scholar program next year. Would highly recommend!

This is the second time we have participated in this Program in two years. We enjoyed again the leadership of Terry and Joyce Grier; the live theatre productions at The Commonweal; the cycling on the famous Root River Trail; the fellowship of active seniors; and unique educational events such as the Owl Seminar by Karla Bloem and Alice the Owl at Houston, MN Nature Centre. Vern & RoseAline Begalke, Grande Prairie AB, Canada

The Lanesboro biking and theater experience was great. The leaders were outstanding and made everyone feel welcome...they accomodated all levels of biking ability. The Cottage House Inn could not have been better and is perfectly located for shops, restaurants and theater. I was especially pleased with the quality of productions at the theater. It was a good week.

If you can attend only one Road Scholar bike trip, this should be it! Teri and Joyce are well attuned to the needs of the group with SAG wagon high quality snacks mid-way on the trails to accommodating individual differences in desired distance for the day. The trail is beautiful, the bikes comfortable. Breakfasts at the Cottage Inn were all homemade with plenty of choices, and the front porch was an a great gathering place for friends after a ride.

Wow just returned from this program! Joyce and Terry and volunteer JD did a fabulous job of welcoming us all and tending to all our biking needs. The bikes were very well maintained. The overview each morning gave us a good idea of what was to come each day. The programs from morning stretching to theater performances and bike maintenance were informative time well spent for participants. Group leads did an excellent job of handling individual needs of various levels of cyclers. Leaders such as Joyce, And Terry are truly what makes the Road Scholar program a continued success. Minnesota will see me again...I have talked my husband into returning with me to Minnesota in January for Tracking the Wolves adventure.

A great program for biking enthusiasts of all skill levels. The leaders do an excellent job of accommodating each biker's interest and ability. We could zoom on ahead when we wanted to, or stay with the group and enjoy the scenery. There were only a few moderate hills and van ride assistance was available for those who weren't quite ready for the challenge. Additional optional rides were available for those who wanted to keep going or a van lift back to the start for those ready to close the day. The bikes were in excellent condition and fitted to each rider. The leaders stayed with the group for all meals, education and the plays. They shared their extensive knowledge about the trails, the area's history and the natural resources. They are very friendly and turned a group of strangers into a group of friends. Terrific program.
