Don't take a cruise...this trip to the islands via ferries gives you so much more time on each island. It requires some walking, but you will be in such good shape when you are done. I love every minute of it.

This is the trip I have dreamed of for years, and it was as great as I had thought it would be. I found it physically and mentally demanding, but so worth it. Our group leader, Efi, was amazing.

Bring your sunscreen and joy of adventure in discovering the wonders of Greece and it's history. It's an active program so bring good comfortable walking shoes. Your thirst for knowledge and new cultural experiences will be thoroughly fulfilled on this program.

We have just returned from our island hopping tour. We loved every minute and learned so much about the ancient civilizations, met nice people, had great food and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

I cannot imagine a better way to see Athens and the amazing Greek Islands. To say our leader Efi Giakali was exceptional is an understatement. Her knowledge, love of country and history, sense of humor, special insights and ability to manage everything in a professional manner was truly remarkable. Efi transmitted her love of the sea, the sights and sounds, the food, the people and the culture to us in such a way that soon into the trip we shared her love of everything around us too. I want to thank you Road Scholar and especially thank you Efi. 12 days of sun with cloudless skies, a chance to swim or wade in the Aegean Sea added to the enjoyment. Prepare for some challenging walks, but reaching the top of the Acropolis and walking around the wonder that is the Parthenon is worth every step. This is a trip not to be missed.

A magical trip to an ancient land! RS contracts with fantastic tour leaders like Epi. Well worth the money to not be with whiners.

Lots of walking mostly up hill over uneven surfaces and very hot. Otherwise a great trip. Learned a great deal about ancient Greek civilizations that I did not know as they were discovered after I took ancient history classes. A very worthwhile trip, beautiful scenery, good food and great people. But as mentioned earlier, very physically stressful.

A challenging program not for the faint of heart. A wonderful introduction to Greek culture through history and myth.

Our knowledgeable and passionate guide Elsa beautifully engaged our group weaving together the art, history and culture of the Greek heritage through archeological sites and museums. This was a rich experience getting a taste of the Aegean beauty and culture. Crete was a wonderful surprise, the highlight for me.

If you want to visit Athens and hop around the Cyclade islands, I can't think of a better way to do it. You'll visit archealogical sites, tour museums, stay in great hotels, eat fabulous food, and have the best tour guide in the business. Tom Bishop

Absolutely fantastic! None better than John Milton's Paradise Lost."...where on the Aegean shore a city stands, Built, pure the air and light the soil, Athens, the eye of Greece, mother of the arts And eloquence, native to famous wits"... and, of course, with Eleni's exceptional knowledge and guidance, none other could possibly duplicate.

This is an outstanding trip. The educational value is very high, the sites visited are both beautiful and essential for understanding Western history. The food is delicious and the variety of places included is great. A trip not to be missed.

This is a marvelous program, which expanded my knowledge of the Cyclades Isles immensely. The all-inclusive nature of the program was a huge attraction, in that the travel, hotels, tour guide, and boat transfers as well as meals and museum entrance fees and gratuities were included. I would recommend this program 'in a heartbeat' to all who want to learn more about the ancient Greek world of the central Mediterranean dating back to several millenia BC (from the ancient Minoans to present day Greece) I'm ready to go back soon to explore and learn more about this region !

Just visiting the Greek islands is a wonderful experience in itself. Visiting the islands with Road Scholars was extraordinary. Our guide, Maria, was excellent--very knowledgable, extremely patient, and marvelously efficient in moving us along from ferry to hotel to restaurant. Her knowledge and ability to communicate it to us was very much appreciated. I also give high marks to Road Scholars for arranging good hotels and meal experiences that I am sure we could not have had on our own.

This was an amazing trip to Athens and the Greek Islands. Our guide, Eleni, was so knowledgeable, funny and extremely efficient in getting us to all locations. My husband and I have traveled in Europe several times in past but this was by far our favorite time. Everyday was filled with more beautiful scenes and adventures. We certainly will travel with a Roads Scholar program the next time we go international. I would recommend a visit to Athens and Greek Islands for your next international travel experience.

Road Scholar has forever changed my expectation for travel, especially group travel. Our group needs were met but our individual needs were also met. The organization of the trip, the intimate knowledge of the areas, the knowledge and passion of our group leader all brought value to the trip that far exceeded its actual cost. I can only paraphrase another advertisement- hotel-restful, meal-satisfying, museum-eye opening, historic site-awe inspiring, Road Scholar- priceless.
