We enjoyed this program very much. The scenery was spectacular and the guides (especially Darren) were outstanding in explaining about the area. The lodging was more than satisfactory, and meals were great. Overall a fun and educational week. Kim

This was an outstanding program in every respect. Even though the primary focus was the breathtaking natural beauty of Big Bend National Park, this program provided so much more in increased knowledge and new experiences. It enabled those of us who participated to learn the history of this region from pre-historic times up to the present day. The fact that our guide, Darren, has lived in this area for many years was a significant factor in the success of this program, but all of the other presentations were of an extremely high quality. The young woman who led us on the tour of Terlingua made both the history of that town and the lives of the current inhabitants come alive; the working cowboy provided valuable insight into the ranching history of the area; and the visit to the Museum of the Big Bend tied up everything that we had learned and experienced during the week. The food, both at Mountain Trails Lodge and the local small restaurants, was delightful.

Congratulations on a program that was educational, interesting and varied. All the people involved in our experience were well versed and helpful. This was my 4th program and I will look forward to others.

Our guide, Darren knowledge of the area really made the trip. The Mountain Trails Lodge & Outdoor, while not fancy was comfortable and the food was great. Never a dull sight on the trip. There were many sites I wished we could have spent more time, but the program gave you a good overview of Big Bend. It is “Big” after all.

I had to enter the information on the required forms twice because the initial submission was not accepted or it froze up the recipient server program. This happened to several persons on this trip. There is an error in the program that needs to be sorted out or you do not have sufficient server capacity to handle multiple submissions of required forms at the same time.

The website is good but for the forms section which could be improved. There needs to be an occasional acceptance problem with the information typed into the online forms when it is submitted. That is a programming problem and I hope that you can find the error in the program.

What a wonderful week We really got to see this area and learn about it. Our guide was so knowledgeable, the landscape beautiful and unusual, the McDonald Observatory very interesting, trip was well organized with great meals and nice accommodations. The weather was pleasantly cool at this time of the year. A great time to go.

Exceptional program. I had been to Big Bend National Park many years ago but learned so much more about the area with this program. Be prepared to gain a pound or two on the excellent food that you won't be able to resist.

What an exciting Road Scholar program! History from Cabeza de Vaca in the 16th century...to cowboys and Buffalo Soldiers on the Overland Trail three centuries later...to tomorrow's Space Age, including carefully structured visits to two of the world's great observatories. And, the wild and beautiful Big Bend country on the Rio Grande border with Mexico was simply the cherry on top. Exposure to scenic grandeur as breath-taking as any in the world, with more than a little geology thrown in. Facilities ranged from basic-but-quite pleasant to multi-star luxury. Meals were surprisingly good, especially considering the "down home" picturesque location of some of them. Guides were intelligent, sensitive and accommodating. This RS program was one not to be missed.
