Road Scholar
Program #1804RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Very interesting program in a beautiful setting! I learned about the diversity and history of Lake Erie and the ecochallenges they are addressing and where they have been successful. The bird banding was especially exciting.

I attended this program - my 28th - the second week of September. Certainly by good luck rather than good management I was lucky enough to hit the 200th Anniversary Celebration of Admiral Perry's epic victory on Lake Erie. Special events included a commemorative stamp ceremony and a cruise out on the lake to toss wreaths into the water at the site of the battle. We also enjoyed elements from the regular program such as a cruise to and visit at the OSU Science Lab, a trip to Kelley's Island to see glacial grooves, and a bird banding experience. I want to make special mention of the excellent food we had at the Crew's Nest Yacht Club. The chef there was very innovative and put interesting spins on well known foods!

This program is a tiny gem within Lake Erie. History, wine growing & making, caves, animals, fish, and great food and accommodations make this program a top favorite for me.
So much to see, taste, feel and learn on South Bass Island in Lake Erie.

What a wonderful experience we had! Our group of 20 participants and leaders Lisa and Jackie visited three islands during our six-day Road Scholar program. Our group stayed at bed and breakfasts in Put in Bay and ate most of our great meals at a private yacht club. Activities were varied and enjoyable. This was my first Road Scholar program and I'm looking towards to attending more in the future.
