EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Great trip! I feel that we know more about New York City than many friends who travel there frequently as well as some New Yorkers! Lots of walking, subway riding and fun! Lectures were wonderful!

This was only my second trip with Road Scholar but will definitely not be my last. In fact, after visiting Ireland in the Spring, I immediately found another program for the Fall on my return.

I thoroughly enjoyed this Road Scholar program. It more than met my expectations, with the high points including the wonderful lectures, the enthusiastic local guides and the evening walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. I can't imagine a more complete overview of the five boroughs in such a short time period. I can completely recommend this program for anyone seeking an active and personal insight into New York City's famous and hidden treasures.

This was our 3rd RS adventure and we enjoyed the class greatly. The highlight of the trip was the quality of the instruction. Each presenter had a great deal of knowledge about history, immigration, politics, architecture, and neighborhoods. The New Yorker Hotel was comfortable and well located. The food choices provided a window into the diversity of greater NY city. We will take more classes in the future as the overall experience was enjoyable.

This was an excellent program. My 3rd NYC program and each has been totally different. I am looking forward to Behind the Velvet Curtain in the spring. Explore New York, Corp. rocks. They provide the best programs and a real workout on the subway steps and neighborhood tours.

Donna from Ventura, CA Number of programs attended: 19
Date attended: 09/23/12 - 09/28/12
This is a fast paced program, requiring participants to walk 4-6 miles a day as well as navigating frequent steps at the subways. There was time to see a play and to shop.Because the days are short,I recommend this program during the summer as evening activities took place after dark. The staff was helpful and attendees were a delight to meet!

Sharon from Dallas, TX Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 09/23/12 - 09/28/12
This one was fabulous. Very fast-paced, though. I would not recommend it for anyone who cannot walk about 5 miles a day and up and down a LOT of steps. And, you have to be able to "step lively" in order to get on and off the subway. I loved the ethnic foods, the architecture, and the scenery.
