Program #20164RJ
13 Days | 12 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

The weather this October 2013 was perfect. Warm days and cool nights added to the enjoyment of visiting Indian Pueblos, reservations and culture centers. Our visit to the Crownpoint Rug auction was a really a fun filled event. Several of our participants bid and bought rugs. We discovered later that the prices at the auction were extremely good value. We were a group of sixteen people with three leaders and a very large bus. Dick Sandlin, Anne Hillerman and Don Strel all taught us about the Southwest, Tony Hillerman’s love of the people and Landscape and how to take good photographs. I would highly recommend this program. Our photos are online at: http://www.umassk12.net/photo/Hillerman/index.html

We had very high expectations for this program and were NOT disappointed. It was a special treat to have Anne Hillerman share her stories about her dad.

Excellent program for all interested in the Southwest especially for Hillerman fans. Our leaders, Anne, Dick & Don were exceptional in their knowledge. Anne Hillerman truly illuminated her fathers works and made them come alive. Thanks!

If you are a Tony Hillerman fan, this tour will be a must! All three leaders were excellent. Having Anne Hillerman share many special insights about her Father was such a treat.

Anne Hillerman's insights regarding her father and the lands that we visited were priceless!!

I'm still basking in the glow of this deeply satisfying experience. As a Hillerman-oriented tour, it offered just enough to enhance the joy of reading the Leaphorn/ Chee novels without being overbearing. Some extras, some things left out, but, to borrow a phrase from Tony himself, I was "Seldom Disappointed."

Charles from Phoenix, AZ Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 04/11/12 - 04/23/12
This is the most outstanding trip I have taken in the USA or in any of the foreign countries that I have visited. It gave me new and renewed respect for all the Indian Nations that I had the opportunity to interact with. Everyone should have this experience.
