This week was a fun week of bird watching, relaxation, socializing with other Road Scholars and I even got in a little hiking. This was both my first experience at bird watching with experts, and also my first Road Scholar program. Both were a huge success and I hope to participate in more of both. There were people with a wide variety of birding experience so this program fits all levels. Everyone was so nice and shared their knowledge of birding with me and did not grow frustrated with all my questions. And the guides Bill and Jerry had so much knowledge and entertaining stories of their many, many years of birding. As they all told me at the beginning of the week, once you get started birding you get hooked. I saw and heard so many birds I didn’t even know existed, and now I can’t get enough of researching more them. I hope to be able to return next year. If you like hiking and waterfalls, be sure to go to nearby Cascade Falls either Sunday or Friday. It is beautiful and so worth the 4 mile round trip hike.
