See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

If you ever wanted to get your hands dirty being a paleontologist looking for fossils or bones in a cool, comfortable environment, this program is for you. Learn what patience these scientists possess to get their job done. Help with the tedious work in the lab knowing you are indeed making a small headway in their work. The program was a dream fulfilled. Thank you everyone involved in this program for making it the best. Ever so glad we could help with your work.

Working at the Mammoth site is a wonderful experience. Not only is it interesting and educational, it is an opportunity to contribute to a rare and important study of life on Earth thousands of years ago.

The Mammoth Site is everything I hoped it would be. I loved digging in the bonebed best! ... No, I loved molding a mastodon tooth best! ... Well, maybe I loved carefully removing soft sediment from around bones the best. Oh dear, oh dear, it was all wonderful.

The program is exactly as described. The mammoth Site is awesome and we were able to get "down and dirty" in the dig. For some participants sitting on the hard earth was difficult but Justin tried to accommodate everyone's physical issues. Working in the lab, actually touching these ancient remains was a dream come true. If you have ever wanted to be on an archeological dig, but can't see yourself in Egypt or some other foreign place, this is for you! Road Scholar and Earth Watch are the only volunteer groups that work in the Mammoth Site. A great experience!
