If you want to see Colorado and find out all sorts of interesting railroad history and facts, this is the tour for you! The rides on the various scenic railways were fun and the scenery was breathtaking.

Very enjoyable tour. I gt more than I expected and that was a lot. The hotels were all excellent except in Alamosa, where the hallways smelled terribly bad from cigarettes! Otherwise the hotel was adequate. The instructor was excellent in both the talks he gave and the preparations for our day trips. One of my best trips, and I've been on several.

This was an excellent program. Being a narrow gauge model railroader, I was primarily interested in the the existing lines of Colorado. As a retired educator in the field of history I was looking forward to learning more about the history of Colorado and especially the mining industry. I'm happy to say both of these interests were fully met and the general thrust of the program well exceeded my expectations. Railroad excursions, museums, maps and handouts and scenic wonders were nicely woven together and knitted in place by enjoyable lectures (stories really) by the well informed and expert instructor. From an educational structural standpoint the "course" was well planned, well integrated, content rich and professionally delivered. Accommodations, food, transportation and all the necessities were well above average and the days seemed to move along flawlessly. I recommend this adventure for your consideration without reservation.

I also enjoyed this program. The instructor was excellent, and gave very detailed accounts on how the railroads helped develop the state of Colorado. Our tour leader was very competent, and very good at solving problems. The train excursions were great! And the scenery was beautiful with many Aspens turning to fall colors. Accomadations were all excellent except in Alamosa where they were adequate, but nothing special. And the meals were all delicious. I highly recommend this tour to railroad enthusiasts like me, and any one else you wants to see the beautiful scenery of Colorado especially with fall colors present at this time of year.

Arthur from Seattle, WA Number of programs attended: 5

This is an excellent program that is great blend of both railroad lore and Colorado history, woven together to provide a very enlightening insight into how railroads (together with mines) figured some prominently into the development of the state. The instructor was very knowledgeable in both categories as well as a very effective teacher. Accommodations and transportation were clean and comfortable and the food was good. Try it; you'll like it!!

Road Scholar Tours are just fantastic! Each tour I take I marvel at the convenience and ease of taking these tours. Especially since I am a widow - the tours are safe and just delightful on every level!!!

Anthony from Honolulu, HI Number of programs attended: 13
Date attended: 09/18/11 - 09/26/11
A home run with bases loaded! Excellent, well informed narratives and outstanding attentiveness to the needs of the group by the program traveling staff. An adventure of railroading in the Rockies and fascinating history of the region. The majestic Rockies had the spirituality of a cathedral.
