Paris without the attitude! Montreal (and likely all of Quebec) is a lovely way to enjoy European ambiance without the time and trouble of crossing the Atlantic. The city is rich in history and culture. We stayed two days after the tour and could easily have enjoyed more.

This program gives you a great "taste" of Montreal. The organized walking tours provided lots of information, and the free time allowed me to explore the areas that most interested me. There were several wonderful "extras" - meeting the organist at the Basilica and hearing a sample of music was one highlight for me. All of the program staff were outstanding - helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.

This terrific program took us through the Old City, Golden Square Mile, Mile End, Downtown, Spectacle Quarter and other neighborhoods not filled with tourists. We had wonderful tastings from neighborhood ethnic shops and a market. Group dinners were delicious. During my free time I tried other restaurants from the list of recommendations and was pleased with them as well. The non-food portions of the tour were likewise memorable, including a kind of private concert on the organ balcony of the Basilica, a very special experience. This tour is highly recommended.

This is a wonderful opportunity to experience Montreal with an emphasis on its history and culture. If you are a traveler who wants to rub elbows with the locals, not merely look out the window, choose this trip. A knowledgeable local guide will introduce you to parts of the city each day. Then, you'll be able to choose what you want to see. The museum vouchers provided made this trip incredibly interesting to me. The Museum of Fine Art, McCord Museum, Ramsey Museum, the Botanical Gardens and the Archeological Museum each offered me opportunities to broaden my appreciation for Montreal. Who knows, perhaps you'll even dust off your high school French after a day or two in Old Montreal; I did and it was worth the effort. Montreal is a bilingual city, but it never hurts to try to participate.

This was our second Road Scholar trip, and based on this experience, we will certainly do it again. The guides were outstanding, and the program details were ideal. As much as anything, we loved being with fellow travelers who were so interesting and welcoming and with whom we had much in common.
