This program has a fabulous instructor...shirley spencer, who is brilliant on all subjects pertaining to the park. That being said, we were disappointed that the conference grounds were a 3 hour bus ride in the snow from Yosemite, so it left little time in the park to hike. Ecco has clean, small rooms overlooking a parking lot, and food that was a cut above hospital fare. Would have rather stayed in the park.

This was a perfect first view of Yosemite. Shirley Spencer is an amazing teacher. Her passion for all things Yosemite is contagious! The weather even cooperated for us. The evening program with Diane and her birds of prey was fascinating. And Rita was always helpful and kept an eye on us. I highly recommend this trip.

This was my first Road Scholar Tour and I was a little apprehensive about the whole thing! I loved every minute of it! Shirley Spencer and Glenda Gilbreath make a terrific team and I really didn't want the Tour to be over on Friday!!!

Roger from Manchester, NJ Number of programs attended: 19 Date attended: 08/23/15-08/28/15 We saw spectacular scenery and received outstanding leadership from Gayle Farmer and fantastic instruction from Len McKenzie. I have a disability and Gayle saw to it that I was able to fully participate in at least 85% of the activities. Len's presentations were extremely comprehensive and always interesting.

Jane from Amarillo, TX Number of programs attended: 12

We were thrilled with this program. If you are interested in visiting the queen of the USA national parks, take this trip. It is good value for the cost. The lodge is in a beautiful setting.

This is a wonderful program. I have been to Yosemite twice already, and this program added so much more than just a visit. Shirley Spencer, who does most of the program content, is a gem. She enhanced the whole experience.

Laurie from Bellevue, WA Number of programs attended: 2

This trip was even better than I expected. Yosemite is incredible and I cannot think of a better person to be leading us through it than the indomitable Shirley Spencer. She was absolutely delightful.

This was our first RS program and it greatly exceeded our expectations. The accommodations were nestled in a beautiful wooded area and comfortable. The food was fantastic. Our group was most interesting and very compatible. You'll really like your guide and teacher Shirley Spencer, she's unforgettable as is Yosemite.

Adelheid from High Springs, FL Number of programs attended: 1

Wonderful trip, I would recommend it highly.

Belinda from North Falmouth, MA Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 09/21/14 - 09/25/14
This was our first experience with the Road Scholar Program. It was an enriching and memorable four days. To see Yosemite through the eyes of Shirley Spencer was a thrill in itself. But add to it that the program was well organized, classmates were interesting, food was varied and good and you come up with a five star event.

Georgianna from Chico, CA Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 09/21/14 - 09/25/14
This was my very first road scholar program and it was wonderful. I have always wanted to visit Yosemite and this trip exceeded my expectations. The scenery was breathtaking and the lectures interesting and informative. Thank you Shirley Spencer- you made the trip so special! I learned so much and the trip sparked my desire to learn more.

Lauri from Kalamazoo, MI Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 09/21/14 - 09/25/14
This is a very high quality program. If you come from a different time zone I would recommend a day or so int the same time zone. It's strenuous (a full schedule of classes and trips) so it helps to get over the jet lag, since you'll be challenged by the altitude. But it's worth it, especially for Shirley Spencer, the educator. She's great!

robin from Akron, OH Number of programs attended: 1

A wonderful week spent in a beautiful setting. A fantastic teacher who brought the region alive!

Terry from Miami, FL Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 09/14/14 - 09/19/14
This was my lst RS experience and it has made me promise to find time to do it again. I would never have been able to plan a tour so well and learn so much about Yosemite without our experienced instructor/guide, Mrs. Shirley Spencer. This woman knows and does everything. Wonderwoman, mountain climber, extremely knowledgeable, land so much fun!

Paul from Fayetteville, PA Number of programs attended: 4

Great trip if you want to learn all about Yosemite and the flora and fauna of the park. Amazing opportunity to spend time with the experts and see the park.

Sharon from Longmont, CO Number of programs attended: 4

Interested in nature? Beauty of same. Preservation of same. History of same. This is your program.

Lynn from Bridgewater, VT Number of programs attended: 4
Date attended: 04/20/14 - 04/25/14
This program demonstrated the "value" of combining a learning experience with travel. Without the didactics the experience would not have been anywhere near as exciting. The didactics alone would have been similarly "cold". The combination was "awesome".

Edward from Northbrook, IL Number of programs attended: 8
Date attended: 04/20/14 - 04/25/14
This was a wonderful national park program with good accommodations and excellent food. I can't add to what everyone else says about Shirley; she is a top-notch naturalist and instructor.

Lenore from Arlington Hts, IL Number of programs attended: 9

This Road Scholar program was memorable . Gayle was constantly pleasant and supportive . The kitchen staff outdid themselves in good food and service. Enthusiastic kudos for Shirley Spencer our instructor and guide. She was very knowledgeable , a gifted lecturer , fun and funny with her animal sounds and expression ! Her passion for the critters and sites of Yosemite was contagious. How can we bottle her energy ?Truly an expert lecturer and advocate for the environ- ment , kind and multitalented. We will strongly recommend this program to our friends.

I knew it would be a beautiful week to engage and learn more about Yosemite and the Sierra Nevadas. The experience surpassed my expectations. Shirley Spencer, the naturalist-teacher extraordinaire, presents classes introduced with visuals and hands on opportunities that are enhanced by her astounding personal experiences. I was continually eager for the next class, the next day and the next field trip. This was my first Road Scholar trip, and I will do many more. The facility is placed in a beautiful setting and their staff were accommodating and helpful. I met people who had stories to tell and experiences to share. I know I made a good choice.

Ruth from Redding, CA Number of programs attended: 7
Date attended: 03/30/14 - 04/04/14
This will be a program like no other because of the instructor, Shirley Spencer, who basically does the whole thing. She has the experience and knowledge, friendliness, and a unique way of presenting, that entrances everyone. She does 2 1/2 days of lectures and 3 hours on bus trips, and keeps your interest continually. The accommodations are adequate; the park is spectacular.
