Road Scholar
Program #20902RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This program would not be at the top of my Elderhostel experiences, but it would be in the top ten or so.

This was a lovely week in a warm setting during a very cold winter. We were able to see many of the historical sites and learn about numerous well known people who made Key West their home. There was a good combination of walking about seeing things and lecture time. We saw there was so much more to the island than bars and restaurants. Our group leader Bridget did and excellent job planning for everyone. I would recommend this to a friend.

Bridget's enthusiasm and love of Key West enhanced my visit to Key West. This was a well-balanced program with lots of variety in learning experiences and plenty of time to pursue individual tastes in food and fun. The Crowne Plaza La Concha was luxurious and ideally located.

Educational, interesting, and fun! I learned a lot, ate great food, and thoroughly enjoyed this trip. I felt the value for the money was very good as well!

Diane and I really enjoyed our venture in and around Key West. We had excellent weather, in the mid 70's and only one rainy afternoon & evening. Accommodations were excellent and hotel staff were all very accommodating. Jennifer Powell, our Group Leader was just super. All of the speakers were top notch and there was a nice blend of free time and structured activities. We met some very interesting fellow travelers. The group blended quite well and we all had a good time. The material provided was quite adequate and very helpful. All in all, a very enjoyable event. Paul Sammelwitz

This is a great trip to take after a long, cold, hard winter. It got you out, warmed the bones, and was just terrific.

This interesting program reinforced my confidence in the value and learning experience Road Scholar provides. Wonderful and a nice escape from the northern winter!

What a wonderful introduction to the Road Scholar trips! My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the rest of the Road Scholar travelers. It was an educational, entertaining, and exciting trip. I was so happy with the organization and our leader that I am now going to book my trip to China with Road Scholar!!!

Daniel from Willsboro, NY Number of programs attended: 25

This was another great Road Scholar program. The accommodations were wonderful, the food was excellent, the speakers were knowledgeable, and the leader, Bridget, did a great job! I would highly recommend this program.

Sylvia from Oak Ridge, TN Number of programs attended: 7

We were enormously pleased with the variety of events and speakers planned for us at the Old Town Key West program. Hotel accommodations were good in spite of recent and on-going renovations. Bridget Gallagher was an enthusiastic and well-organized leader. John and Sylvia Talmage

Excellent program, great history, highly recommended, Jennifer was an excellent leader. Only downside - too many attendees. Actually, there were 37 in attendance and, by my standards as a trip leader for other venues, that is about 12 too many. I recommend that walking trips of this nature be limited to no more than 25. We had a great group but the number of attendees made several events difficult.

Just returned from a fabulous trip to Key west. What a fun group of Roadscholars! Everyone was friendly and seemed to enjoy meeting new people. Key West has so much to offer but be prepared to walk a lot in very, very hot muggy weather! I left New York (-1degree)and arrived in key West unprepared for 80. Despite sweltering in my corduroys, I had a great time. Another item crossed off my Bucket List.

We loved our first experience with Road Scholar -- Old Town Key West. Our leader, Bridget, was excellent, and we learned and experienced more than we'd hoped. Good pace and good people, all helped along with innovative hearing devices. Beautiful memories. Thank you!

Highly recommend this week in Key West, particularly if Bridget is the the guide. The museums, the hotel, the restaurants, the food, and the experience make it a special week.

Key West is much more than Duval St and a tropical drink. Come and see some of the depth of the island and the people who live (and have lived) there.

This was my first Road Scholar trip, and it was more than I expected. Our leader, Bridget Gallagher, was fantastic. The entire learning experience was great - lectures and tours very informative. I will definitely sign up for more Road Scholar programs. Niki, Mt. Juliet, TN

I always use the website to search for my next trip. The large booklets you mail me are not as informative as the website. I love the trips that include air fare and that is easily found on the website.
