See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Fascinating subject. Knowledgeable instructors helped us to see how important lie detectors were to various services, how photos from planes showed the missiles in Cuba, how people are recruited to spy for another ideology. Of course, the other participants add to the program because of their various backgrounds and knowledge.

An opportunity to meet an entirely different side of Washington DC based in an outstanding area of the city. Learn the imperative intertwining of diplomacy and espionage, particularly interesting to those who have already done programs co-sponsored by Amer Foreign Service Asso. Visit the Nat'l Cryptology Museum - in a surprising location - and receive an all day pass for the Nat'l Spy Museum located in close proximity to many other museums as well. And receive an engrossing reading list!

This was an excellent program with a good balance between presenters & museum visits & an afternoon of free time. Time-wise this is, basically, a 3 day program, so much must be presented in a short period of time. The presenters all had personal experience with their agencies & knew their material well, presenting vignettes to keep it from being dry. The two Museums were very informative & different from each other which added to the experience. Hotel accommodations, & restaurants were good considering they are for group travel. On a scale of 1-5 I give this one a 4 .

A visit to Washington DC is always interesting. This was a great way to see a part of DC I had not seen before. The Spies and Lies program was interesting considering all that is being said about NSA. Everyone should remember that secret documents/information is held for 50 yeas before being revealed, so Mr. Snowden was not a subject of discussion. However, it was still revealed a lot about what the USA does in the way of convert action.

I was disappointed in the planning and execution of the details of this program. Although I learned a lot, the small room in which we were confined was uncomfortable and our time in it was long. Speakers were knowledgeable and museums interesting. If this had been my first experience with Road Scholar, I would give very serious thought about trying a second program.
