While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. Minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

I highly recommend this program. It was fascinating learning about the ancient ones that occupied Cahokia Mounds. Our instructors were excellent, the facility comfortable, and the other participants very interesting. Marsha from MO

A World Heritage Site ... the largest Indian city north of Mexico ... a population of 15,000 to 20,000 in AD 1200 -- more than London! ... the largest prehistoric earthworks in the Western Hemisphere ... mysterious WOODHENGE ... and all abandoned by 1400 AD. Who were they? Why was it all abandoned? Come to Cahokia. You'll leave with some answers, but with even more questions than when you came.

It's one thing to listen to lectures about the archaeology of the mounds, which were all very well presented and easy to understand, but you will especially enjoy watching Larry create fire (in seconds!), knap flints and show you his collection of reconstructed Mississipian tools. Marilyn, the storyteller, captures your imagination with her tales of long ago. And I had never heard of finger weaving or making cloth out of stinging nettle until Susan came along. This course covers the gamut of things you would like to know about those big grassy hills and the folks who built them. And don't forget to visit the labyrinth at Toddhall. Many thanks to Jim, Bill, Joe, John, Larry, Marilyn and Susan for a wonderful four days.

I expected the professional archaeologists, but the added value was the experimental archaeologist, storyteller and weaver. I really felt that I learned about the "people" who made this fabulous city so many years ago, right in our own country.

We were informed that this program was more for the mind than for physical activity, which was true. The lectures were wide-ranging and thorough. We were well prepared for our two visits to the Mounds.
