ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Excellent program, very well run and lots of fun. Diane and Eldon are super organized and things ran like clockwork - but they also knew how to keep us laughing and involved. The snow on Bryce Canyon day just added to the magic.

The opportunity to explore this beautiful part of America with an expert in geology and a congenial group of fellow travelers far exceeded my expectations. This was my first Road Scholar trip--the first of many, I expect!

Who knew rocks were so diverse and interesting? All the highs and lows come down to various rocks and how the earth has moved them around. For me it made everything more interesting to understand hows and whys I wasn't just looking at pretty scenery.

An excellent overview of this fascinating and different part of our vast country. Prepare to be awed and amazed.

Susan from Leesburg, VA Number of programs attended: 12

Information on the geology of the area was very interesting and thorough. We did a lot in the 5 days we were there. Accommodations at College Inn are very nice with good continental breakfasts.

This is a great once-over-lightly program to visit the Utah National Parks. I am planning to take a longer one in the fall.

Arthur from Reedley, CA Number of programs attended: 12

What we appreciated that it was a well-rounded adventure--some of us enjoyed hiking but those who didn't had alternate choices. We could have skipped the tour of historic St. George but it was a great trip.

Denise from Fremont, CA Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 09/22/14 - 09/27/14
We loved this trip. The activity level was moderate though it often seemed worse due to the altitude and the heat, especially at the beginning of the trip. Better to do this in a cooler season. And the length of the overall adventure seems about right though some might prefer a longer program that covers all the national parks in southern Utah.

Gigi from Carmel, CA Number of programs attended: 5
Date attended: 09/01/14 - 09/06/14
I loved it, however, would recommend to take the longer trip, due to much traveling.

Leslie from Wichita, KS Number of programs attended: 0

This was our first Elderhostel/Road Scholar experience. We had a wonderful, informative leader, an awesome bus driver and the program was just perfect! We learned so much and saw some of nature's masterpieces! If you get a chance you should experience this trip! Just the right amount of walking interspersed with other experiences! A definite trip for you to take!

Carol from Gallatin, TN Number of programs attended: 15

This was my 17th Elderhostel/Road Scholar experience and my second time to attend the St. George, Utah program. While it was a little too much walking for me, I had choices which fit the bill! An awesome week from beginning to end. If you get the chance to go, do it!!!

Nancy from Santa Fe, NM Number of programs attended: 4

PURE DELIGHT FROM BEGINNING TO END! THE AMAZING SIGHTS, THE SOUNDS OF NATURE,THE MARVELOUS SENIORS AND JOYFULLY COMMITTED LEADERS MADE THIS A TRIP TO REMEMBER. AND THEN THERE WAS THE MERRY-GO-ROUND RIDE IN LOVELY DOWNTOWN ST.GEORGE ON THE LAST NIGHT THAT FIVE OF US ENJOYED TO MAKE THE PROGRAM ENDING EXTRA SPECIAL AND UNIQUE.

This visit to Bryce, Zion, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon exceeded out expectations! Leaders Marcia Cooper and Keith Norlin shared so much interesting information about the history and geography of the area, things we never would have known otherwise.

Elizabeth from Steelton, PA Number of programs attended: 1

Recently finished trip to Zion, Bryce and North Rim of Grand Canyon. Just you thought you saw the most beautiful place on earth, you went to the next canyon and it was even more spectacular. Liked that they all had their own unique beauty. Well worth the trip.
