6 Days | 5 Nights
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This is a great program! The local guides and boat captains were very knowledgeable and friendly. They and the places we visited provided a rich and enjoyable learning experience in a very beautiful and memorable area.

Gary from Santa Cruz and Meredith Being a sailor and thoroughly into water activities, I found the water excursions not only refreshing but highly informative from commentaries provided by local experts. The added dimension of art history and galleries of the art colony at Rocky Neck was an added benefit.

Several enjoyable boat cruises. No restaurant at hotel, only catered meals. Not an educational progra, like to old Elderhostel ones. "Lectures" were just tour guide spiels with entertaining anecdotes, but no real learning and no handouts.

We've taken over 25 Elderhostel/Road Scholar trips, and this has been one of, if not the very best. The leader, instructors, content, atmosphere, etc. were top notch. Highly recommended. Ken Hallenbeck, Colorado Springs, CO

Lovely program for those who like being on the water. Hotel was wonderful. It is possible to get here with public transportation from Logan airport and only takes about an hour and a half. The only change I would suggest is allowing participants to take a sunset cruise, as all cruises were mid-day -- which is not ideal for photography. The Thomas Lannon -- a schooner -- does a daily sunset cruise out of Gloucester. Take it on your free afternoon!

why do i always pick programs that are practically impossible to get to if you are traveling solo !!

this was very difficult to do ! could get shuttle so far towards rockport and no further. talked to coordinator for suggestions and she said to come on that she would pick me up and take me the other 20 minutes to rockport ! and that's what i did, she just seemed to forget i had to get back to catch my plane on Friday !! had to miss program on Friday morning and get a friend that lives in Mass. to come and get me to airport on return. it was a nightmare.

so , if you go on this program make sure you can get there and back on your own.

was a delightful program. we did sailing boats each day. tall masted, tour like boats ( flat bottom) or something on water each day!

nice motel-but no restaurant ! gave us one day to eat on our own and no place to eat unless you had a car ! i picked up a sandwich at lunch and took it with me for supper. there was no restaurant there, they had a place you could heat up bagels ect-but they catered in food for us each day. some good and some not so good !

they ran out of eggs etc for breakfast (hard boiled) and guess did not know where the grocery store was. that was on day 2 of program. finally got some protein on friday as we were leaving .

again the program was GREAT--good speakers etc. but they coordinator opted not to use the mikes that RS provided for her so was difficult to hear on bus as the PA was broken on it.

i loved this program but with out a car you were really stranded there. usually that does not bother me, but was really noticeable on this program.

so word to the wise, this is not a good program for solo travelers with out transportation. for questions.
