The program Hiking in Catskills is great. The location is quiet and beautiful. Lodging is comfortable. Dining room has a fireplace with the sofa and armchairs around. In the evenings the fire was on in the fireplace and people loved sitting there. The living room has sofas, books, games. Food was excellent with some individual choices for everybody. Every morning we had great yoga mostly on the mats in the living room. Hiking was different each day. Once it was close to flat trail with gradual up and down to the beautiful lake which we hiked around. The other hikes were mostly on rocky trails up to the mountains summits. The Giant Ledge trail brought us to the cliff where we had lunch and enjoyed the stunning view of mountains covered with beautiful bright colored forests. After first hike we had a tour in the Maple Syrup House. The other day we had a tour to the Frost Valley Farm Garden where we looked around and enjoyed picking and eating raspberry. After returning to the lodge about 4pm we had yoga stretches, dinner and in the evenings programs or reading, games, . One evening we had a enlightened lecture about glacier time in the Catskill area, the other evening we visited very good and informative museum about History of Catskills. All program very well organized and really enjoyable.

This program was great! The staff was thoughtful of all participants, the environment couldn't have been more beautiful, the yoga was a very positive portion of the program. I liked the small size of the group - so fun getting to know new folks and about the different parts of the country they were from. Also hearing about the other RS trips they had taken. The hikes were good - just right and done in a way that allowed for different ages and ability levels. It was a terrific week!

I absolutely loved it. It was my first RS trip. The hiking was terrific. The food was outstanding. The staff and the lodging were so good, I will be back. I was there in the spring and the weather was so cooperative. Yoga and hiking. Perfect blend.

This event was posted as "moderately challenging." Since I enjoy challenging hikes I hesitated in signing up for this program because I feared the hiking might not live up to my expectations. Most of the trails were moderate with a challenging section at the end. Trails were gorgeous and I got great workouts. The bonus was that participants who wanted something a little less strenuous could opt to do only the moderate portion of the trail. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and the food better than I expected knowing that we were staying at a YMCA lodge. There were always two main entrees, including seafood, and the desserts were fabulous. If you choose to do this trip be sure to bring books, cards or games for the evenings. The location is a spectacular setting in the middle of nowhere with no cell phone service and only satellite internet. Plan on creating your own evening entertainment. There are spacious community rooms with fireplaces, couches and tables for playing games.

Lovely setting, challenging hikes, great staff and accommodations. What more could you ask for in a program? Just remember that you will be on the east coast, where the trails are often rocky, and be prepared with your most comfortable boots!
