4 Days | 3 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

As usual with Road Scholar, the teaching was superb, done by passionate and highly-informed leaders. And as usual, the planning was meticulous, the time was busy, and the "flow" was excellent. Individual attention was warmly available as needed. The accommodations and meals were both much better than expected. Altogether, a wonderful experience. I never dreamed I would want to know all that I learned.

This program was exactly as described. If you know everything about the battles of Gettysburg then this might not be for you. However, if you are interested in this fascinating part of our country's past and want to know more, I highly recommend this program. Perhaps you will come to understand, as I did, that those three days, July 1-3, 1863 may have been the turning point that makes our country what it is today.

Ted was amazing! Made the best of a bad situation with the National Park shutdown.

The cpntent of this program should be made available by the National Park system to all high school civics program in our country. Yound people need to know how much suffering men endured to assure our county's unity and worth.

Roger from Birmingham, MI Number of programs attended: 23

Needs some brevity

Laurie from Stevens Point, WI Number of programs attended: 8

This is a wonderful program. Whether you have a little interest or a big interest in the civil war, I can guarantee you'll come away wanting to learn more. The food on this program is great as are the teachers and the hostesses! Sign up now!!

Paul from Boulder, CO Number of programs attended: 9
Date attended: 04/27/12 - 04/30/12
This is a fine program if you want to learn about the Gettysburg Campaign. But those only superficially interested in the topic or want to spend time in Gettysburg's shops may be disappointed. A visit to the Eisenhower family farm is also recommended if it is not included in the battlefield itinerary.

Warren from Farmington, CT Number of programs attended: 4
Date attended: 04/27/12 - 04/30/12
For me, this was the kind of group learning experience we all want -- a fascinating subject presented in a compelling way that makes it interesting, even fun to learn; accomodations that you would choose for yourself; fellow participants that you want to meet and get to know; everything organized and delivered in an efficient, friendly and enjoyably adult way. A fine experience. I highly recommend it!
