Easy
For people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
Moderate
These programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
Active
For people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately Challenging
For hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
Challenging
Get ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

It was a fantastic program in all ways. The presenters were all so knowledgeable and mostly entertaining.I learned a lot. This was my 47th Elderhostel/Road Scholar and the second time to this program. Thank you for a great five days.

We had a wonderful experience with the Ultimate Opera program. We can't say enough about the quality of the presenters. Of course, the operas were the best but our appreciation of the opera has been enhanced significantly by attending this program - our first by the way.

It was a most enjoyable 5 days. The hotel is well located, the speakers were excellent and the operas, of course, were wonderful. The staff and volunteers are very helpful with directions and suggestions for navigating in NYC. If you like music or opera, definitely go on this trip. I plan to go again someday.

The lectures, operas, and back stage tour of the Lincoln Center were excellent. Road Scholar staff helped us navigate the NYC subway and took us to the 9/11 memorial site. The New Yorker hotel was well located for those who travelled by Amtrak-like us. But, during a cold week, we found that our room lacked adequate insulation. A soda placed between the window and curtain froze! Overall this was a top notch program and a good value.

An outstanding program delivered by thorough professionals - all the lectures were terrific and the performances at the Met were wonderful...well, some of us were not too keen about the Un Ballo PRODUCTION, but the singing was just out of this world. The traditional Aida was of course straight-up perfect. All the Scholars engaged in the discussions we had before and after the operas, and Explore New York guide Ray was very helpful with advice for getting around during our few free times. That Road Scholar provided us with the information and the subway agent to get an unlimited travel card for the week (and a permanent card to be mailed to us shortly) was worth the price of admission alone! Group Leader Molly and volunteer Pegie were also outstanding. BEST ADVICE from me...try to get seats C213 and C215 in the Family Circle - PERFECT acoustics and no seats in front to interfere with the looooong view to the stage. Oh, and for those who already do or plan to do the HD Live presentations...keep your HD tickets to get a 15% discount at the Met Box Office when you head to NYC again. AMH, Oxford, OH.

This program enhanced the enjoyment of opera at the Met. far more than my expectations. Not only did we discuss performance but also we learned far more about the art form than could be obtained by simply being a regular attender at performances. F.S. from Boston

This program will expand your knowledge and enjoyment of opera. To study what you are going to see, experience the performance in seats with great sound, and discuss what you saw and heard next day is pure delight!

Attending Ultimate Opera in New York City was a fulfillment of a lifetime dream. Opera at the Met is a wonderful experience and the highly competent and entertaining instructors helped us Road Scholars get the most from our experience. I cannot wait to repeat this program.
