This is the perfect introduction to NYC. For my first visit to this city, I saw so many of the major gems I had read about or seen in pictures. To be there in person is amazing. I will return. Thank you Road Scholar leaders for a great 6 days.

I was surprised that I felt very safe in NYC. There was so much to see & Road Scholar gives you a great overview of favorite sights. Road Scholar guides & speakers were excellent & my head is filled with new info. All this makes one want to return to check out the city all the more.

I was exhilarated by the New York: A Signature City program. The history, art, and geography were all abetted by excellent instructors and a good subways system.

John from Pickford, MI Number of programs attended: 9

I participated on the same trip as Barbara and "ditto" everything she wrote with the addition that I think Karl, Nancy and Molly were terrific leaders and I hope to catch some of their future programs.

Barbara from Teeswater, ON Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 09/20/15 - 09/25/15
I really enjoyed the program, very well organized, great speakers, you see a LOT, don't spend a lot of time at each place, but enough to know if you want to go back sometime and see more.there is a lot of walking, as described, and stairs, mostly up and down into the subway. Would definitely recommend. The food is okay, but way more bread based than I am used to, I would bring more snacks of my own choosing to replace some.when you are out to restaurants, there is only limited choice.

Pamela from Jekyll Island, GA Number of programs attended: 7
Date attended: 09/06/15 - 09/11/15
An amazing 5 days in NYC. Filled with fun and stimulating activities and site-visits, very informational and extremely well-executed by our leaders and speakers. A very special thanks to Molly, Nancy and most especially, our lead Angela. I will recommend this trip to everyone interested in New York City!

Margaret from Huntingtn Bch, CA Number of programs attended: 3

This was our first visit to New York and my husband and I could not have experienced the city any better than by participating in this group. The leaders and the lecturers were so enthusiastic and knowledgeable and the itinerary beautifully thought out. Five stars all around! Thank you again Road Scholar for another perfect adventure.

Grace from Santa Cruz, CA Number of programs attended: 18

Kudoos to all the Signature City New York leaders for a fine five days in Manhattan. I LOVED the evening walk along The High Line, a nifty urban park converted from an old, elevated railroad bed. Thanks for the tours of Harlem and the Theater District, plus the day at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. A good use of the time allowed in this city with SO many attractions. This is both a wonderful introduction tour and a good review for those travelers who have visited New York before. Sign up now!

Patricia from Urbana, IL Number of programs attended: 9
Date attended: 05/10/15 - 05/15/15
This terrific program is a wonderful first exposure to this great city. I would urge anyone who is nervous about visiting New York to participate in this program since when it is done you are ready to go out "on your own" to explore the many facets of this important city.

Sharon from Boulder, CO Number of programs attended: 2

We were informed, walked, talked, had fun! I had taken one before this which I loved but this is the best! Road Scholar is fortunate to have such knowledgable leaders and people who care! Thanks to all! Sharon Larocque

Denise from Lakeville, PA Number of programs attended: 1

The program delivered everything it claimed and more. The guides and speakers were informed, helpful and entertaining. I got the impression that everyone, both involved and attending, enjoyed every minute. This was my first trip with road scholar and I am keen to do more.

Sharon from Lenexa, KS Number of programs attended: 1

A really great trip! The staff was very knowledgeable, professional and fun. Our first trip with Road Scholar and first trip to New York. Learned so much on each day. A good blend of group time and free time! Exceeded our expectations!

Judette from Lake Forest Park, WA Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 04/19/15 - 04/24/15
This is not your grandfather's New York City. We found it safe, accessible, friendly and clean. The program was exceptionally well designed and executed by a great staff. The New Yorker hotel was clean, comfortable, friendly, and well located. The listening devices were a bonus. We stayed an extra day to visit the 9-11 museum, walk the Brooklyn Bridge, and catch another play. We'll be back!

Robert from Navarre, FL Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 04/19/15 - 04/24/15
The Signature City New York program exceeded my expectations. The staff was wonderful, the food mostly good and the itinerary perfect. What really stood out to my wife and I was how clean and safe New York City is. Forget about the New York you heard about growing up, this place is brimming with activities suitable for any age and safe for visitors.

Louise from Burlingame, CA Number of programs attended: 7
Date attended: 03/08/15 - 03/13/15
A great city, wonderful leaders in the Road Scholar program. My husband and I hadn't been to New York in 50 years and were reluctant to visit and explore by ourselves. We had a grand time and hope to return, perhaps for the 5 boroughs program. Louise

Warren from Anchorage, AK Number of programs attended: 4

William from Springfield, OH Number of programs attended: 3

This Program is packs a great deal into 5 days. Even though subways and buses are used, be prepared to walk, and take comfortable shoes along. Our group leader, Angela, and speakers were excellent. We saw a lot, learned a lot, and now have a new appreciation for the City and its people.

Karen from Shoreline, WA Number of programs attended: 2

Signature City-NYC 9/21 - 9/26, 2014 was a wonderful program. I am enjoying it all over again, telling friends what a great tour it was. Looking forward to planning another tour with Rhode Scholar.

Barbara from Concord, CA Number of programs attended: 4

Signature City New York: The Big Apple Experience: This is an excellent program put on by highly knowledgeable guides & speakers. Everything about this program changed my knowledge about New York City. Now, I very much like this City thanks to the Road Scholar Organization.

Sherri from Athens, IL Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 10/19/14 - 10/24/14
Signature City-NYC is a great program. Fantastic guides. You'll see a lot. Do LOTS of walking. If you are not able to walk at least 3 miles a day, you should not enroll in this program. But, it is a great trip and we loved it. Angela (leader) is absolutely great-very helpful if you want to go do something on your own. The listening devices are a wonderful idea and very helpful while on the street/subways.

Mary from Cedar Falls, IA Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 09/21/14 - 09/26/14
I would highly recommend a tour with Road Scholar; their speakers were
well educated in their field and prepared us for each new experience.

Dwayne from Albuquerque, NM Number of programs attended: 32
Date attended: 09/21/14 - 09/26/14
This is the perfect introduction to NYC. From geography and history to current issues and activities, this program provides a well informed and interesting basis for your New York experience. We spent an extra week in the city after the program and the things we learned in the program helped us every day that we were on our own. I recommend it highly.

Zuma from Beaverton, OR Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 09/07/14 - 09/12/14
For first timers to New York City (which we were)this tour was a perfect orientation/acclimation to the city. The New Yorker Hotel is beautiful, conveniently located, and Road Scholar makes the price hard to pass-up. Angela our tour guide is a native and knew NYC amazingly well. All of the tours and lectures had merit. Except "NYC Experience" given on the last morning before our departure. The speaker actually showed video of himself singing a x-mas carol...what a literal wind bag. We were all bored to tears.

Beauford from Menifee, CA Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 09/21/14 - 09/26/14
Going it alone in New York can be overwhelming. If you want to learn about the city, how to get around it and see its highlights, (at a great value) this is the program for you.

Dorothy from San Jose, CA Number of programs attended: 10
Date attended: 09/07/14 - 09/12/14
This was a well organized, informative program. This was my first time in New York, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The only suggestion I would make is to find someone else to do the Harlem tour. I felt the comments of the person who led this section were inappropriate.

Nancy from Carnegie, PA Number of programs attended: 4
Date attended: 08/10/14 - 08/15/14
To all who are considering this program-don't hesitate. It is truly worth your time, energy, and finances.

Mary Beth from Pewaukee, WI Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 05/11/14 - 05/16/14
This was my first Road Scholar trip and my first trip to New York. I was hesitant about going to New York, especially since I was walking with a cane but I participated in the activities I could and spent 2 days with my son who lives in New York. I loved the group activities and good food. I felt much more comfortable after spending these 5 days in New York. I have already booked my next Road Scholar trip to San Francisco.

Judith from Lenexa, KS Number of programs attended: 14
Date attended: 06/15/14 - 06/20/14
This program takes you to the critical sites you expect to see in NYC; also taking you on walks through various important neighborhoods. In addition, there is sufficient free time to explore places with a special interest to you.

Cheryl from Pittsford, NY Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 06/01/14 - 06/06/14
If you have never been to NYC, or have visited before, this program will treat you to an enriching and worthwhile experience. It's fun, culturally and intellectually stimulating and so worth doing.

Rick from Pipersville, PA Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 06/15/14 - 06/20/14
This was a very well organized experience with expert guides. My only recommendation would be to split the group from 32 to 16 using 2 guides in order to provide a more manageable group experience. My comfort zone for revisits has become at ease.

Sandra from Mahtomedi, MN Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 06/15/14 - 06/20/14
Road Scholar is the best way to learn and travel in your lifetime.

Mary from Memphis, TN Number of programs attended: 1

I LIKE R.D.S. TRIPS AND WILL ALWAYS PROMOTE THEM WHEN I CAN.

Martha from Rockford, IL Number of programs attended: 3
Date attended: 03/30/14 - 04/04/14
This program is a great overview of New York City for the first-time visitor. You get to see all of the tourist sites that are a "must", i.e. Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, Metropolitan Museum, Central Park, and other optional tours such as Greenwich Village. You learn how to get around in New York using the subways and buses. This is a very active tour and there is lots of walking. The hotel is great and the food is wonderful! Guides are helpful and knowledgeable. The program definitely leaves you wanting more of New York City!

Carolyn from Las Vegas, NV Number of programs attended: 11
Date attended: 03/30/14 - 04/04/14
This program is highly active. Be ready to see and learn about many of the highlights of Manhattan. The neighborhood walks are a must. It would be more than a good idea to include them in your schedule. Also, you will learn to "love" the subways.
