EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Jean from Pittsburgh, PA Number of programs attended: 7
Date attended: 03/17/13 - 03/22/13
I enrolled in this program thinking it was a good opportunity to enjoy three performances and see a little of New York on the side--by playing hooky from some of the before and after sessions. But after the initial session with Daniel Egan and others I quickly realized that this sort of "enrichment" was invaluable and added greatly to the overall experience. It was also quite interesting to hear the various reactions of other participants

This NYC Road Scholar Program I participate in encouraged me to expand my world view of several fine arts experiences. Some of my long standing thoughts were challenged as they should have been ... YEA! I want to be pushed outside of my several comfort zones with gentle nudging. At 75, I need this kind of stimulation in order to keep my mind, body and spirit active and as positive as possible. I do not want to become a "grumpy old man" who is too set in his ways of thinking. Yes, I need exciting challenges; this program did that for me for five days!

An excellent glimpse into the world of opera, ballet, and symphony with fascinating lecturer/performers and attendance at concerts in the premier concert halls of New York City.

Ann from Charleston, SC Number of programs attended: 14
Date attended: 02/03/13 - 02/08/13
Wonderful program, great speakers and fun coordinators added up to another great NYC RS program. this is an annual must for all interested in the ARTS - Met, NY Philharmonic and NYC Ballet plus time for Wed theater/opera/whatever in the Big Apple. Sr Metro passes allow one to travel anywhere easily and inexpensively. go for it.

Edna from Los Angeles, CA Number of programs attended: 6
Date attended: 02/03/13 - 02/08/13
Amazing 5 days! And I am a multi-NYC visitor. Rigoletto! Ballanchine! Brahms! And a ballerina, singer, cellist, composer etc. as speakers. Back stage at the met - with chat with wig maker and close up view of Rigoletto props! Great staff people. A real 'can do' group. And, of course, the usual interesting RS fellow travellers!

Anne from Roseville, CA Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 02/03/13 - 02/08/13
The Lincoln Center Festival program was outstanding. I had a wonderful time. I have a completely renewed appreciation of opera, ballet and the symphony having attended this program. It was so much fun!

Nancy from West Chester, PA Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 01/06/13 - 01/11/13
I will be back next year to hear very educational lectures and guest lectures on the Philharmonic, Metropolitan opera and broadway shows. A perfect way for me, as a widow, to visit New York.

Eleanor from Bethlehem, PA Number of programs attended: 8
Date attended: 01/06/13 - 01/11/13
Every aspect of the Lincoln Center Festival proogram was outstanding. This was the third time we attended the program and we intend to return again next year.

Britta from Victoria, BC Number of programs attended: 8
Date attended: 01/06/13 - 01/11/13
The Lincoln Center program was amazing! The Road Scholar approach made world-class opera, drama and orchestra truly accessible. The back-stage tour of the Metropolitan Opera House and presentations by symphony conductors, Broadway actors and behind-the-scene professionals plus New York City itself made this an outstanding experience.

Christine from Dartmouth, NS Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 12/02/12 - 12/07/12
Another first-time Road Scholar here, and I see future Road Scholar trips in my future. The guest speakers were excellent, knowledgeable, and interesting personalities; the program leaders were wonderful, and the variety of Lincoln Center events was stimulating and enjoyable. Two thumbs up!

Jim from Butte, MT Number of programs attended: 1

This was my first Road Scholar program and certainly won't be my last. The Lincoln Center Festival was just right and Explore New York let this second-time visitor to New York enjoy every minute. I highly recomend this program.

Janet from Lancaster, VA Number of programs attended: 5

Lincoln Center Festival is one of the best programs we have attended. Great mixture of opera, ballet & concert. "Explore New York" does a wonderful job of leading & arranging great speakers whose expertise is top notch!
