EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Excellent program, hotel and food. Have no idea why anyone complained.

I really enjoyed this program overall. It was frustrating, however, to find that many of the "extra" films I wished to see were already sold out because they could be bought online. If RS could arrange with the festival organizers to allow RS participants to buy tickets online at the same discount they get for the other tickets, it would be wonderful. And yes, I would certainly appreciate the $100 voucher RS has offered. Thank you.

This was our second year attending. We totally loved it the first time, which is why we attended again, this time bringing another couple, who also thoroughly enjoyed it. True, I didn't enjoy getting up at 6:15 a.m. (my choice to shower in the morning rather than at night), and was disappointed that the "extra" films we wanted to see had all been sold out on line a couple of weeks before the festival. Perhaps the thing to do is to go online to the festival's website, read about the films there, and buy tickets in advance--but in that case, Road Scholar needs to let us know which films they'll be showing so that we don't duplicate. Also, the program cost shown about ($1598) must be for two people--I'm sure we didn't pay that much.

Had fun. Would do the 5 day program next time. Would like more advanced info about films next time. Was disappointed that everything I wanted to see was sold out. The chosen films for us were an interesting mix.

It is such a pleasure to attend this film festival. It is well run and stress free. Having critics available to discuss the films is a real plus. glenda from Tucson

This is a great program for the beginner film festival goer. We loved the Renaissance Hotel since it's convenient to downtown and to the theaters. Our coordinators were somewhat disorganized, but since we were attending the program for the 5th year, it didn't matter to us. We purchased a Platinum Pass and thoroughly enjoyed being able to get into any film we wanted without the long lines for ticket holders. Frankly, we feel we have outgrown our need for this program and will go to the festival with the Pass in the future. We will miss meeting the other people in the program, but we do prefer doing this kind of thing "on our own."

If you are willing to get up at 5 or 5:30 in the morning to begin the day and see two movies a day that you had no choice in selecting and pay to go to any of the movies that actually are attracting people and thereby lose meals because the group that arranges this program for Roadscholar has made no allowance for people seeing additional movies, you may wind up having a good time. This program attracts hard-core movie fans who are very willing to put up with very poor organization for the opportunity to see movies on their own and have the opportunity to meet other Roadscholar people with similar interests. But the program itself is very poorly run and handled.

Road Scholar's response:
Road Scholar is given exclusive use of the theatre for two daily movies, but we are at the discretion of the Film Committee as to which movies we see. Unfortunately neither Road Scholar nor our participants are able to provide any input to the movie selection. We do understand that many participants wish to see additional movies during their free time which is why we have developed a hotel option which provides limited meal inclusions. Participants who choose this option will only have the welcome dinner included, which would allow for more flexible schedule to see additional movies and have dinners on your own.
