Road Scholar
Program #20120RJ
11 Days | 10 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This Pacific Coast Road Scholar program provides a fine opportunity to view our Creator's handiwork as one travels over varying terrains. The Getty Center and the Hearst Castle are impressive stops. I recommend an afternoon at the Reagan Presidential Library.

Richard from West Chester, OH Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 04/05/14 - 04/15/14
This is a well paced tour along the Pacific Coast Highway that stops at the major attractions along the way as well as other lesser known attractions that enhance the overall learning experience. The step on guides are masters of their subject.

Carolyn from Portland, OR Number of programs attended: 18
Date attended: 10/26/13 - 11/05/13
Get on board & leave the driving to an expect while you sit back & enjoy the great views all the way up the California coast line. Private sightseeing tour on our group bus with a step on guide was an added bonus in San Francisco.

Gene from Dunlap, IL Number of programs attended: 18
Date attended: 08/17/13 - 08/27/13
This was a most interesting program exposing participants to much of the beauty, cultural diversity and history of California's Pacific Coast. I recommend it to anyone that has not had the opportunity to view much of the California Coast.

Marion from Concord, CA Number of programs attended: 33
Date attended: 10/20/12 - 10/30/12
Marion from Concord, CA Number of programs attended: 32 Date attended: 10/20/12 - 10/30/12 As a "new" Californian, I took this opportunity to become more acquainted with my state. What a great trip! Beautiful sights, yummy meals and some really great new friends.

Arnold from Ballwin, MO Number of programs attended: 38
Date attended: 10/20/12 - 10/30/12
A comprehensive, diversified overview encompassing the Southern California coast from San Diego to San Francisco including many key locations along the way. Another great On the Road offering.

Bruce from Baldwinsville, NY Number of programs attended: 8
Date attended: 04/14/12 - 04/24/12
We hope to be able to re-schedule this trip sometime in the future, hopefully and be able to complete it. We have done quite a few Elderhostel trips in the past, both in the USA and abroad, and plan to do more. We do recommend the Road Scholar(Elderhostel) experience to our friends and relatives. Bruce

Mary from Eureka, IL Number of programs attended: 20
Date attended: 04/14/12 - 04/24/12
This is a wonderful way to see Southern California. If the highway congestion has given you second thoughts about touring this area in your own vehicle, this is the way to go. The best attractions, accommodations, and meals are included in this program.
