The Cajun Experience is a wonderful tour in a little-known region of the United States. We all know about New Orleans somewhat, but to learn that Lafayette is only two hours from New Orleans but vastly different in it's regional culture was truly eye-opening. It's less sophisticated but just as much fun! The history is rich, the food interesting and FILLING, and the music....well, there's probably not a word that's all-encompassing enough to describe its richness!

Fonda from Seattle, WA Number of programs attended: 3

I thoroughly enjoyed this program. It was a nice mix of lectures and field trips. I learned a lot about the people, their music, food and dance. I tasted some new foods in many differest restaurants, learned a new dance and tapped my toe to the lively music. A great experience.

The Cajun experience is a wonderful adventure, especially for anyone who is interested in the history of this group of people. The lectures were full of indepth information, and the trips took us to authentic places not seen by the average tourist. The dinner-dance on the last night was the perfect wrap up to a full week, and really got us in with the local crowd.

The program provided a comprehensive introduction to the Cajun culture in Louisiana. The educational experiences were extensive, but there was no shortage of activities that were just plain fun like the music and dancing and trying different food. It was like being exposed to a new world.

Fascinating history of the Cajun people and of the settlement of Louisiana by other ethnic groups. Would be of special interest to Canadians with an Acadian background. Very well planned and our group leader was delightful!

Jo-Ann from Fairfield, CT Number of programs attended: 19

The program provided a variety of experiences. I have a better understanding of the Cajun culture. There were lectures on music, history, and food; field trips to historical sites and the bayou; dance lessons; and a variety of restaurants with different Cajun food choices. "Let the good timed roll."

Jutta from Houston, Texas === Cajun Experience 9/22/14 - 9/27/14 my first experience. We had a great organizer who introduced the group to a wonderful experience. I enjoyed myself greatly and learned much about Cajuns, Creoles, the music, food, and the immmigrants who left their footprints - sad ones (Cypress cutting) and enjoyable (music, joi de vivre, survival).I enjoyed talking to so many people. Dance instructions and going dancing was wonderful. I should come more often for dancing!! In essence, I had a wonderful experience and would recommend it wholeheartedly to those who want to learn about cultures and immmigrants to the U.S. - voluntary and forced settlements. The diversity of cultures was amazing. I will check out more history - for sure.

If you are at all interested in the Cajun, Creole culture then this is a good program to attend. It is especially good in introducing and studying the music and food. Southern Hospitality is very evident throughout this week long program.
