A fabulous trip, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Our national parks are truly amazing, & our tour guide knew a great deal about the geology and history of the area. I would highly recommend this trip.

It's all about having fun learning....for me, I am surprised at how interesting rock formations are now to me. The istory of the rocks are before our eyes to think about, appreciate and understand more because of experts who know geology. My eyes were filled with wonders everyday!

This trip was spectacular! Great opportunity to see and learn about the treasures of the South Western part of our amazingly diverse country!

The "On The Road: Absolute Southwest- A Canyonlands Adventure" was a great vacation. You get to see so many canyons. I'd never heard of Mystery Valley, a hidden gem in Monument Valley tribal lands. I think it was my favorite, but it's so hard to choose. You cover 1,200 miles so there's lots of time on a bus (as well as the getting on and off). Our guides and driver were informative and fun. It's educational, and the people that went were enjoyable to be with. Some found the walking challenging, but there were options. I wished there had been more walking. Some of the places we stayed were top notch; others, not so much. The food at times was so-so, and we were warned about slow/non-existent internet, but you're going for the spectacular scenery. Highly recommended this expansive journey.

This is an outstanding trip - great scenery and you will learn a lot about the geology, plant and animal life, as well as the native people who inhabited or are presently living in this beautiful land.

Louise from Greenwood Village, CO Number of programs attended: 1

This was a great trip covering lots of territory (physically and educationally!). Our guide was terrific. Some participants were overly optimistic about their physical ability to do all of the activities but most of the time, options were available.

BRUCE from Mount Vernon, NY Number of programs attended: 1

The scenery was awesome. I took my camera and took a lot of pictures and video. Overall, my fellow Road Scholars were very nice people. The group leaders were really great.

This was a wonderful program and I would recommend this program to everyone. The group of 34 people that were in our program wonderful and we had a great time getting to known them. The group dynamic created a enjoyable trip. We also very much liked the structured agenda that this program offered. Highly recommend this program.

Margaret from Williamsburg, VA Number of programs attended: 2

I came away from this experience with a sense of awe for the Southwest National Parks. At the age of 68, I had never been out west and I can honestly say I was "blown away". The instructors did everything possible to make this a rewarding experience for us!

Maryanne from East Providence, RI Number of programs attended: 2

The value of this program and the scope of what we did and territory covered was exceptional. I highly recommend this to most people. It fulfilled a life long dream and I told my family "Why didn't I do all this when I lived closer to here"!

This Absolute Southwest program was absolutely outstanding. Saw things I dreamed about seeing and learned so much from our wonderful leader, Dave, and our other leader, Mike. I would recommend this trip to everyone.

Ronald from Medfield, MA Number of programs attended: 1

An absolutely outstanding program. The leader, Dave Hall, was affable, congenial, and knowledgable. I would recommend this program to anyone who wishes a comprehensive yet leisurely jaunt throughout the Southwest. Extremely well-organized adventure. This was our first Road Scholar trek, and there is no question that we will do more programs with this outstanding organization. Ron Trahan, Medfield, MA

Donald from Holt, MI Number of programs attended: 14

One of my favorite RS programs in the past 12 years. Very well staffed. Learned a lot in geology, native / Spanish/Mormon cultures, botany/biology. The hikes, raft trip on the Colorado, and sandstone 'eye candy' were all highlights. Trip ended at Vegas airport and we stayed over to see shows like Donny & Marie Osmond on our own.

Miriam from Hideaway, TX Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 03/15/14 - 03/26/14
This was a great trip, one we planned to do for some time. It exceeded our expectations. The scenery was spectacular. We really enjoyed taking short hikes in the parks we visited. The trip was well organized and the leaders were experienced and knowledgable. The meals were very good and the hotels were comfortable. We saw and learned so much more than we would have if we had taken this trip on our own.

Beautiful, dry desert with dramatic sticky-ups (an official, technical term :) ), cliffs and gorges, enhanced by Road Scholar's very knowledgeable guides and lecturers. A 4-wheel truck-pulled open van on rarely used tracks/trails in Monument Valley, other-worldliness of Bryce, Zion's maze of canyons and indescribable Grand Canyon and views, visits to great museums and National Monuments, quiet river rafting below the Glen Canyon Dam just above the official start of Grand Canyon make for lasting wonderment and memories.

Gretchen from West Lafayette, IN Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 03/15/14 - 03/26/14
Start with seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time and floating down the Colorado River; add a memorable ride through Monument and Mystery Valleys with learning what a hoodoo is at Bryce Canyon; then marvel at the magnificence of Zion National Park. Top this with excellent group leaders and you have a terrific program!

Kathleen from Jacksonville, FL Number of programs attended: 5
Date attended: 03/15/14 - 03/26/14
Everyone in the group seemed to enjoy the trip. It was a good choice for me, coming from the southeast. I had never seen such majestic structures. The geology lessons were fantastic.

Charles from Foxboro, MA Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 03/15/14 - 03/26/14
We made a really good choice in selecting this program. Loved the hikes off the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, along the rim of the Hoodoo filled amphitheater at Sunrise point at Bryce, and up the river into the narrows of Zion Canyon. The boat ride on the Colorado river below the Glenn Canyon dam was spectacular. We rode the bus down to the launch point through tunnels built to accommodate construction of the dam. Looking up at the canyon walls while drifting downriver was a blast. Never in my life have I met someone who has more knowledge on such a wide array of topics as Jeff Strang, the group leader. He knew every detail on every plant, animal, and geologic formation, as well as related stories regarding local history and folk lore of the area. He is fascinating to listen to. As a guide he really added depth and knowledge to the experience of seeing the sites. Dave Hall, the co-leader, was one of the nicest and friendliest guys - having him along on the hikes and as a van driver was a blast. And does he ever know his geology - wow! Not a single day of rain, weather was great in the Southwest. Food and accommodations were excellent, particularly at the Majestic View Lodge just outside the park boundary at Zion - spectacular views,a nice pool area, and a small balcony from our room to relax and soak it all in. Most hikes were short with modest elevation change so everyone could enjoy them. But there was also opportunity for those who wanted longer hikes to have more challenge and explore a bit on their own.
