The Finger Lakes Hiking trip was amazing! The deep gorges and numerous waterfalls were breathtaking, as was the CCC stonework along the trails - the bridges, walls, stairways, shelters, and even picnic tables. I felt like I stepped into another world. And the staff was very knowledgeable and organized. I would highly recommend this trip.

I was sad to see this program end. The location is perfect - quiet and beautiful. Everyone involved was very organized, great food and terrific hikes. Moderate in intensity and extreme in scenery and sights. So understandable why so many people return.

Patricia from Mendota, MN Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 10/19/14 - 10/24/14
Absolutely amazing scenery, excellent guidance, and comfortable, down-to-earth accommodations. I had a great time. This program is a good workout - I was very glad that I had kept up with my home workouts prior to doing it, because that made it much easier to navigate the more difficult areas of the hikes. I recommend it!

This program exceeded my expectations. Our guides were very knowledgeable, encouraging, and interesting. The scenery was breathtaking. Activity level was on the high side of "moderately challenging."

Andrea from McLean, VA Number of programs attended: 3
Date attended: 10/05/14 - 10/10/14
Fantastic hiking. I enjoyed every minute. Our leaders Nick and Pat were outstanding, extremely knowledgeable about the area. Very entertaining, both had great stories. I have never seen so many waterfalls that were actually flowing. The work of the CCC in the NY state parks was very impressive. I had a great time and feel revived.

Ellen from Westerville, OH Number of programs attended: 11

The program was extremely well organized. The guides and speakers were outstanding. The waterfalls and the leaves were beautiful. I would definitely recommend this hiking trip.

I will simply "ditto" what Laura wrote; but add that what makes Road Scholar (Elderhostel) trips special for me are the participants. They're usually curious and upbeat, interesting because they're interested, and fun to be around!

This is a wonderful program. It lives up to everything promised in the catalog. The group leaders are passionate about their jobs. The hikes are well-planned and organized. Each day is a new adventure. The Watson Homestead is clean and comfortable in a beautiful setting. I went primarily for the hiking but also enjoyed the wineries and museums.

Mark from Arlington, VA Number of programs attended: 9

This area is an unknown beauty. If you like waterfalls, you will like this program. The accommodations are rustic, but adequate. The food could use some improvement.

Great program for people who like to hike. The scenery and waterfalls were beautiful and the program well run.

Peter from Exeter, ON Number of programs attended: 4

Nature is wonderful when you get up close and personal!. The hikes help you push the edges of your comfort zone and you finish the journey tired but very satisfied.

Gloria from Mamaroneck, NY Number of programs attended: 16

This is a wonderful trip which I would highly recommend to hikers of all levels-- especially beginners to moderate level hikers. The leaders were all informative, welcoming and highly organized

I completely enjoyed the week. It was everything I expected and more. The hike leaders were very personable. They were knowledgeable of the area and sensitive to the varying needs and abilities of the group. The night programs were educational and entertaining. Jenny's story telling was a highlight. The chosen hikes were spectacular and gave a great feel for the Finger Lakes area. The accommodations were rustic but very comfortable and well maintained. The food was not fancy, but it was good and plentiful. The group was congenial and full of very interesting people. We completely enjoyed the week.

Bob, Lexington, Ky June 2-7 Splendid affair! The hikes are just lovely, scenery can't be beat. The leadership is very good. Truly have not been on one that the leadership was better. Neil the hike leader is simply the best. Enjoyed seeing the Western Museum of Art. Do hope to go again, but in the fall.

Bruce from Carmel, NY Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 06/02/13 - 06/07/13
All aspects of this program are first class - leaders, facilities, sites visited. And the hikes are reasonable (could be even more challenging, but options are offered for those who might be less well conditioned, or others who are more ambitious hikers). I recommend this program without reservations.

Amy from Northfield, OH Number of programs attended: 3
Date attended: 05/19/13 - 05/24/13
A waterfall lover's delight. Beautiful hikes, reasonable accommodations, and two wine tastings - what's not to like?
