This program was delightful and truly provided an immersion experience in learning about all aspects of "The French Experience."

I thoroughly enjoyed The French Experience Road Scholar program! The instructors were so interesting and they all were excellent presenters. I learned a lot and will definitely consider taking another Road Scholar program based on this experience. Thanks again for a wonderful week!

This program was low-key and well organized. Our group of 21 studied French accomplishments in art, music, science, aviation, cuisine, palaces, wine and literature. We stayed at a beach-front resort about 5 minutes away from Eckerd College where we went each evening for dinner. The resort is dated but the personnel were friendly, the rooms were clean and there were 2 pools. The program is led by Eckerd College and they assembled an impressive array of instructors (including 2 professors from Eckerd). They kept us busy in the evenings after dinner by having a choral group, music recital, movie (Midnight in Paris) and a lesson on ordering meals in French (which I totally flunked). There was one off-site field trip to the local Museum of Fine Arts where the docent tour was well done. If you hope to someday travel to France (or even if you don’t) this is a well-managed program which is packed with information and delivers a basic appreciation of all things French.

This was an excellent program. The instructors were very good, but the highlight of the program was a day and a half with the retired director of the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts. Lodging was comfortable and adequate, although fairly basic. Food was nothing exciting, even our "French dinner", but the coordinator was very accessible and helpful. I would highly recommend this program.

excellent program, instructors, coordinator, living quarters and cordiality of hotel staff (note the genuine friendly and helpful hospitality)

This program featured fine speakers and presenters and included a choral group presentation, a presentation by an accomplished flautist and saxophonist (accompanied by a pianist), and a tour of the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts. Subjects covered were French art, literature, philosophy, history, architecture, and wine. The venue is an older resort overlooking Tampa Bay. The rooms have been updated and the maid service was excellent. The older cathode-ray TVs have not yet been supplanted by flat-panel HD TVs. Breakfast and lunch were served at the hotel--not in the hotel restaurant but in one of the conference rooms--and were decidedly mediocre. Evening meals were served at an Eckerd College cafeteria, a 9-minute bus ride from the hotel. Those meals featured a variety of choices (but no decaf coffee) and were adequate. The leader was conscientious and did her best to satisfy the needs of the group, which consisted of 38 people.

This is an excellent preparatory program for an anticipated trip to France.

Even if you have traveled in France before, The French Experience will not only give you lots of information you didn't know but might inspire you to make another trip there. Our group was small and the leader made everything work smoothly, even a medical emergency did not ruffle a single feather. The presenters were all informed and used powerpoints with videos well. The only complaint we had and others also voiced privately was that this, our 24th program, was so jam-packed with goodies that we had no time to relax/nap, etc.

Terrific balance of French art, music, history, wine, travel, architecture, the whole French Experience. I highly recommend this program.
