ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This was a great week! The introduction to fiddle music was delightful and informative. We learned a great deal about the dynamic aspects of beaches and waves, about the history of Mobile Bay and some of it's biology! It was a pleasure to walk along the clean white beaches of the Alabama Gulf shores. Mobile Bay

This program was great. From our outstanding instructors we learned so much -- from why the sands along the Gulf of Mexico are among the whitest in the world to the history of fiddle playing in America. We watched film clips of comedians in the 1920s and 1930s, discovered how unique Alabama is in its biodiversity, and were so motivated by our speaker on Mobile's Mardi Gras that we plan to sign up for a Road Scholar program there next year. We toured the "castle" of one of our instructors in Fairhope, learned why this town is such a special place, and even petted a baby alligator. We loved staying at the beachfront Hilton where we had the opportunity to walk along the shore in free time. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. I highly recommend this Elderhostel.
