For people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
Moderate
These programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
Active
For people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately Challenging
For hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
Challenging
Get ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This was my first Road Scholar trip but I have travelled 20 times with Elderhostel starting in 1980. I was sorry to miss the peak of color, but everything else was top-notch. Mike Smith has a wealth of knowledge and humor. Our bus driver was accommodating. I would highly recommend the trip.

Wonderful trip! Our first Road Scholar adventure was a success. Our guide, Mike Smith, was a real professional...courteous, knowledgeable, and humorous, he made the trip all it was meant to be. We enjoyed the beautiful New England scenery and a bounty of fabulous food. My husband and I had considered taking a driving trip to New England, but I'm so glad we chose this tour or we would never have met the wonderful people with whom we shared this experience. Great overview of local state history, vineyards, distilleries, organic farms, maple sugar operation, and lobster fishing. I can hardly wait until our next R.S. trip!

My first Road Scholar trip was unbelievably well organized and the learning trips were most interesting, informative and varied. Food was excellent throughout, and accommodations were fine. Would encourage others to try one of the many educational experiences offered by Road Scholar

My initial Road Scholar trip was excellent, toured the east with vineyards and several organic farms. Lot of local state history was shared, beautiful scenery and way too much food. Overall it was a great time and plan to do another in the future...

We had a fantastic time exploring New England with our group leader, Joanne. We had action packed days visiting a wide variety of interesting places. The food and accommodations were wonderful. We were lucky that autumn came late this year to New England and we saw beautiful fall colors. As usual, my fellow participants were welcoming and fun to be with. We visited 5 out of the 6 states of New England. Our group leader helped us gain a great understanding of the uniqueness of each of these states. Couldn't have asked for a better trip!

This program is a good way to get an overview of the New England area.
The accommodations were good, the food was great, and the field trips were very interesting. The coach, driver and tour director were first class.
We were able to see some areas of full color in the northern Vermont areas of our trip.
