6 Days | 5 Nights
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

I thought the educational content of this trip was quite good and met my expectations. I thought the accommodations were fair-to-poor and the food just dreadful. AE

Knowledge of instructors was excellent. Presentations were enjoyable. Should have received refunds for meals. Horrid caterer. Ate most meals elsewhere. Also, the program was very hectic with little down time. 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM was a little much.

Sue from Oberlin, OH Number of programs attended: 4
Date attended: 09/29/13 - 10/04/13
It was great! It really brought the three presidents and their time alive for me. The instructors were not only expert but engaging, and I really enjoyed my fellow participants.

This adventure took you back in time and gave one a better understanding of what our founding fathers accomplished. These were men of vision. It was like stepping through a time portal and viewing life as it was back then. Beautiful countryside views.

I am a fan of our early American history and member of two American lineage societies. Our program presentors were knowledgeable in their field great communicators and easy for program participants to approach with questions.

This program (along with Williamsburg and Boston) if it would include Mount Vernon is a must to understand the derivation of those who revolted and the contradictions they lived with and pragmatically covered over in order to create the union "concieved in liberty, etc." and to the proposition that all [white] males are created equal. They were of and not above their time. Logically it should have been two unions and the horrors of 1861-65 would very well have been avoided. Don't sweep issues under the rug.

If you are a US history buff, you will love this trip! And on your day off, visit President Wilson's first home and library, an added treat!

Joan from Berkeley Heights, NJ Number of programs attended: 28
Date attended: 05/19/13 - 05/24/13
Fascinating lectures of all 3 presidents. Especially interesting to discover the many contributions made by Madison & Monroe, which are not usually highlighted in history books.

Ronald from Berkeley Heights, NJ Number of programs attended: 28
Date attended: 05/19/13 - 05/24/13
This is a very informative program dealing with three of the most important presidents in the early life of our republic. Jefferson's contributions to the formation of our government are well known, but less well known but very significant are those of his friends and successors, James Madison and James Monroe. This program does an excellent job of describing the contributions and lives of each of these three early American presidents who contributed so much to the foundation of our government.
