The Churchill part of the program was great but the Winnipeg portion was only so-so because it didn't really touch on the subject of polar bears except for a brief trip to the zoo before going to the airport. Not sure what the Museum of Human Rights had to do with the theme of this program.

If you are interested in seeing Polar Bears up close in the wild, I cannot recommend a better way to do it. The CNSC in excellent. Just remember to dress warmly.

We learned lots about polar bears, Inuit Native Americans and animals in the subartic. No hesitation in recommending it to others!

The program at the CNSC is wonderful. Education and time in the Tundra is the best. Brandon LaForest was a great presenter. The Winnipeg portion needs to be changed. The Manitoba Museum and presenter Gary was very informative. We definitely didn't need to see the zoo or Human Rights Museum. My choice would be to spent less time in Winnipeg, or not go there at all and go straight to the CNSC. This could decrease the cost of the program.

Road Scholar's response:
The Winnipeg portion of the program reflects the need of all participants to travel through the city en-route to Churchill. While we recognize the primary focus of the program is, of course, the Polar Bears we don’t want to miss an opportunity to discover the best of Winnipeg. The Canadian Human Rights Museum is a national museum, a piece of distinctive architecture, and an experience designed to be a journey of education and inspiration. We think it’s a “must see” if you are in the vicinity. We also visit the zoo to see their efforts at Polar Bear rehabilitation of orphaned cubs, which ties in very well with the programming in Churchil

It is worth the money, the walking and standing were mostly in interesting museums and seating was available. The tundra buggies were not uncomfortable and you did come to see the Polar Bears I am 90 and wouldn't have missed it.

Having been to Antarctica and Alaska in the past, I was prepared to compare and contrast the previous trips with Churchill. I have to say this was not possible. This was truly a very special trip, from arriving at the institute where the personnel ( all, including the volunteers) were supportive, knowledgable, and kind. Riding the Tundra Buggies and seeing so...... many Polar Bears on each trip, as well as other wildlife was exciting. The dog slide ride was another milestone in actual snowy, windy conditions.I would rate this trip a 10/10

Exceptionally well-run program to see polar bears and other wildlife. Lectures were very informative. Personnel were very personable. Be prepared for bunk beds; my wife and I were assured we would be in same room but such was not the case. Wife became bruised and hurt climbing on and off top bunk. Advise all elderly "road scholars", 70 plus, to get bottom bunks.

If you want to have a one in a lifetime experience, do this program. You will see bears very close but in a safe way, you will learn about them and about the innuits and you will have a wonderful time
