EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Being at the Mushers' Banquet and seeing the Ceremonial Start and the Restart fulfilled a fifteen-year dream of mine, ever since I started teaching the Iditarod to my seventh-graders. This was a wonderful experience! Mollie and Kimber were great program leaders, and the other participants were very friendly.

This is an unbelievable program and could not be better. I have enjoyed the experience so much, that I will sign up again as soon as the trip is announced. This has been my 8th consecutive time on this program, and, the Denali Education Center puts together superb experiences! Gerald Elkan, Raleigh, NC.

A wonderful adventure. Met the person responsible for the entire race, mushers, and dog handlers. couldn't ask for more.

Rowena from Bedford, IN This was a fantastic program and extremely well organized. Every Road Scholar I do, I think it cannot be better than the last one. This was a dandy.!!! Nan Eagleson and others were most informative and their love for AK was "catching". It was truly a winter adventure.

This is a great program with repeat attendees (I have been on this program 6 consecutive times). The program leader(Nan Eagleson) is surely your best program leader and is the standard of comparison for other leaders. The program is extremely well organized and I can't think of any improvements that can be made. I am planning to attend again next year and as long as the Deanali Education Center continues to lead this tour.

If you are a fan of the Iditarod, or are interested in learning more about the "Last Great Race on Earth," this program is perfect for you! Immerse yourself in all of the festivities related to the start of the race and surround yourself with exceptional leaders and enthusiastic participants. My friends thought I was nuts for going to Alaska in the winter, but the beauty of Alaska's winter is not to be missed if you want to see the full range of nature's wonder.
