ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.

This was our first Road Scholar program. All our expectations were met in terms of customer service and alignment of activity level, lodging, meals, transportation, and education. All these components aligned with the advertised program. We really enjoyed our hiking companions and will certainly be looking to Road Scholar for our next active vacation.

If you enjoy hiking, this trip is for you. Lisa, Jody, Kat, and Linda were the best guides I have ever seen. As usual, the participants are all interesting and accomplished.

The Canadian Rocky Mountain hiking trip was very well organized and a great experience. The leaders were outstanding and the choice of 3 levels of hikes each day provided challenges for all abilities of hikers. The scenery is spectacular and the trip provided a wide variety of areas to hike and visit.

This hiking adventure was a wonderful way to explore the beauty of the Canadian Rockies with fantastic guides. Each day's hike was completely different from the previous day in terms of scenery and terrain. We saw beautiful glacier lakes in many colors of blue/green, waterfalls, streams, glaciers, forests, meadows, and wildflowers -- and we were always surrounded by the countless peaks of the Canadian Rockies.

What a week! I wasn't sure I could hike for 5 straight days but this group makes it very do-able. You have the option each day as to how far and challenging you want your hike for that day and each one holds it's own beauty. Did not have a moment of disappointment. Would highly recommend this hike to anyone who enjoys hiking and the mountains. LH Pine Grove, CA

This is one of the best Road Scholar programs I have ever attended. The staff, food, lodging, and daily hikes exceeded my expectations. You will not be disappointed with this trip.

A challenging way to experience the beauty and majesty of the Canadian Rockies.

I found this program to be physically challenging, visually inspiring and mentally exhilarating! I enjoyed the commentaries provided by our regional guides, historical, scientific and folk-lore in nature. The participants were diverse in age and background and were warm and engaging. It was very much like adult camp. Our good-byes were sentimental and heart-felt. Great program!

I would recommend this trip for anyone who enjoys hiking and who appreciates beautiful scenery as well as plants and animals. The hikes were diverse and the guides provided different options relative to each person's interests and physical skill level. In addition, the guides were well trained and did their best to meet the various needs within the group. Be sure to come prepared for various types of weather and bring all gear recommended for the hikes.

This was my first Road Scholar trip and what a wonderful indoctrination! Everything was well planned and the guides and program director were not only very accommodating, but very informative as well. The views, of course, were breathtaking, making it an all-around wonderful experience.

This is one of the best organized hiking trips I have ever been on. Everyone was made to feel special and the different levels of hikes accommodated everyone. Even though I have been hiking for years, I learned so much on this trip. And it did not hurt that the weather cooperated. Sara from Tucson, AZ

The best organized, planned, and executed hiking trip I have ever been on. All levels were well matched to the participants abilities. Good group of people!

If you are looking for a great hiking experience in the Canadian Rockies, this trip is for you. You have three choices (mellow, moderate, motivated) each day as to which trail you would like to take. Any and all trails will avail you of the most spectacular sights for the mountains, lakes, etc. You will not be disappointed in what you choose. The guides (Lisa, Jody, Jack, Georgia, and Terry)are the best ever---taking into consideration everyone's needs, desires, safety, and interest. You will enjoy hiking with them as much as they enjoy hiking with you. The participants were fun loving and knowledgable. A terrific group to be with.

We just returned from this wonderful program and we are so glad that we selected this one! It more than met all of my expectations. The quality of this program is extremely high in every possible way. The guides are all very professional, caring, supportive and encouraging. They really seemed to enjoy their jobs and made a constant effort to see that all of our needs were addressed. They all were well informed, had great senses of humor and were able to share their love of this very beautiful part of Canada. The hikes themselves were excellent and all in breathtaking locations. The ratio of guides to participants allowed for at least 3 variations of hikes on a daily basis (mild, moderate and motivated, and sometimes even varied within these categories.) The town of Canmore offered a surprising variety of good restaurants, which gave us many delicious and high quality meals. I highly recommend this program for anyone who loves hiking in very beautiful areas and who is open to new challenges and experiences.

Wonderful! The Canadian Rockies had been on "the list" and this was a great way to experience that area. The program leaders/guides were excellent and everything was well planned and executed. There were three levels of hike difficulties and even levels within levels most days, so everyone could choose a hike that suited each day. (Note: "Moderately challenging" is an accurate description; I think even the lowest level of hike would be more than "active" in Road Scholar categories and some would classify as "challenging.") Information on history, geology, flora, and fauna was provided on the bus as we traveled to/from hikes, as well as along the trails. Safety was a priority and all guides were well-trained, as well as personable. Wonderful scenery, guides, fellow participants, food.... Highly recommended!
