Road Scholar
Program #13957RJ
4 Days | 3 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

I never considered myself a birder, but with some help and a list, I was able to check off about 25 different kinds of birds! What a great opportunity to get up close and personal with one-legged stilts, burrowing owls, and yes, a bald eagle along the riverbank.

Lydia from San Francisco, CA Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 05/07/14 - 05/10/14
The was an enchanting and very low-key outing. I returned to my routine refreshed by the time we spent with everyone enjoying the beauty of this area.

We enjoyed this trip tremendously. We live in the region and learned a lot about the Delta's waterway routes, wildlife, history, economics and beauty. The Captain and first mate were excellent. The coordinating couple were excellent. This was a great introduction to Road Scholars. We met very interesting and interested fellow travelers. We'll be back. This trip was relaxing yet we got some exercise with walking, interesting, and refreshing. Thank you! Jan and Dick Coss

Barbara from Redondo Beach, CA Number of programs attended: 10
Date attended: 10/20/13 - 10/23/13
As a conservationist from Southern California who wants to learn my birds better, I had been wanting to go with this program for a very long time. We needed to learn more about the Delta and see it for ourselves. It was all that I wanted it to be, and was so very satisfying. Our leaders were among the best we ever had, the boat was so much fun, and our lunch stops gave us a chance to see the local towns. We rarely get this far north and took the opportunity to explore San Francisco, Sacramento, Napa and Davis while in the area. Also enjoyed several hours at John Muir's home in Martinez. Thank you for bringing us north, Road Scholar. You "did very, very good".

Alan from Seattle, WA Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 10/20/13 - 10/23/13
I lived in San Francisco for 17 years and saw and learned many things on this trip that I was completely unaware of.

Terry from Clovis, CA Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 05/01/13 - 05/04/13
Loved the program, the people and the knowledge of the instructors. This was our first Road Scholar trip and we got hooked. Excellent information, accurate depiction of what to expect and we really liked the variety of things included in the program. When it was over, we retraced the steps, only from land instead of the waterways this time. Highly recommended adventure.

Floyd from Lincoln, CA Number of programs attended: 5
Date attended: 04/24/13 - 04/27/13
This is a very interesting program.Probably would fit California residents better but I would take this program again.

Janice from Redlands, CA Number of programs attended: 45

Your website has been much improved!

Shirley from San Antonio, TX Number of programs attended: 11
Date attended: 10/17/12 - 10/20/12
We took this tour in October of 2012 and were the only non Californians participating. We live in San Antonio, TX and enjoyed all the facts and sites we saw. We would recommend it to all. There is not a lot of hiking, the accommodations were very nice and the food was brought to the hotel. Shirley and Dick
