ACTIVITY LEVEL: Easy
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

We stayed at Kelly Place in McElmo canyon. This is a very pretty spot and the food they served us was wonderful. Our leader taught us a lot about the artifacts and the native American culture they came from. Our group managed to inventory and re-box over 36 boxes of artifacts. Everybody pitched in. It was fun.

This program is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the Ancestral Puebloans (Anasazi)and their artifacts. It was also rewarding to see how much work in repackaging artifacts at the Cultural Center our group did in the short time we had there.

A great adventure, lots to learn, actual projects to work on and complete, an excellent and passionate instructor/leader, delightful folk to work with, excellent food and great B&B facilities and location. Terrific!

Of the 23 Road Scholar programs I have done this ranks at the top. Small group of very committed and companionable people, the very best instruction and leadership, comfortable accommodations, well prepared and healthy food, fascinating work. I don't see how anything could be more satisfying than this program.

Learned something new, gained an appreciation of the challenges of the cultures who went before, met a great bunch of people, accomplished a needed task, and got a close-up view of southwest Colorado.

This was my first Service Project with Road Scholars, but it will not be my last. It was so enjoyable and worthwhile. In addition to being very educational, I felt I was providing a valuable service.

The Artifact Preparation and Curation program allows one to experience the fascinating history of the Colorado Plateau. I learned so much about the ancient people who populated this part of our country and came to appreciate the amazing things they created as part of their everyday lives. Being able to hold pieces of pottery made by an artisan many hundreds of years ago was an experience I will never forget. A great program!

Joanne from Tigard, OR Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 02/17/13 - 02/23/13
A delightful experience. I learned a lot, broadened my perspectives, had the opportunity to learn from a knowledgeable, passionate leader, got to work with real pottery sherds, stay in a great B&B, and have delicious meals in addition!
