This RS experience was made more wonderful by the great participants, warm and pleasant every one! Of course learning was a key part of the week, and we couldn't have had better instructors than Luis and Beatriz Pita. George Ann went way beyond expectation in assuring or needs, comforts, even meeting the slightest whim with a smile. The scenery is amazing!

My wife and I had a great time. It was her first trip with Road Scholar and she can't wait for the next one! We enjoyed seeing so much of this area as well as meeting new people. Luis, Beatriz and Georgeann all made the week exciting, entertaining and a wonderful learning experience.

This is a great trip and Luis and Beatriz are super helpful. I have done this 4 times. He is a humorous teacher so the lessons are fun.

This program was a delight. The scenery in this part of the country is beautiful and photo opportunities abound. The instructor was very helpful and had a great sense of humor. The program Director bent over backwards to make sure that everyone was happy. The participants were exceptionally nice and helpful to each other.

This was an exceptional photo trip. It is my 8th with Road Scholar in less then 2 years and my 4th photo trip. The hostess, Georganne was incredibly well organized, helpful and available 24/7. Both she and Luis, the instructor, told us what to expect at each stop. The beauty of this trip was that we shot at 9 different locations over the course of 4 days.I am taking this trip again in the fall and recommend it to any photographer regardless of expertise.

My wife and I repeated this photography program because we enjoyed last year's program so much. The instructor Luis Pita and his wife Beatrix made every minute of our time a wonderful learning experience. i recommend this program and these people to anyone with a camera and an interest in learning.

I very much enjoyed this photography program and felt that I learned a lot. I participated as a commuter since I live in the area and felt it was a very good value. The instructor Luis and his wife Beatrice were very knowledgable and provided us with valuable instruction on composing the shot and settings on our cameras. I think that expert photographers as well as beginners would benefit. The staff was well organized, took good care of us and provided interesting information about this part of SC. I intend to be back in the spring for another session.

This was my first Roads Scholar trip and I very much enjoyed the experience. I look forward to going on other trips with this orgainzation. It was very well organized, informative, affordable. Not only was it a good learning experience but the other participants were great.

Several good photo locations, although the meal-time regimen causes loss of best shooting times. If meals could be arranged before/after peak "good light" times, that would be very useful. Speaking of meals, several attendees lauded the meals -- sorry, but I disagree. They seemed to be "a school lunch starch, another starch, a starch-like product, and chopped lettuce salad" menu. One night out would satisfy the yearning for food.

I did this program 3 years ago as a spring program and enjoyed it. This year we did it in the fall with a different instructor and enjoyed it even more. The staff is super and the accomodations work fine.I have been using a Nikon D-7000 and relied mostly on auto. With luis's help and the help of fellow participants I really began to experiment and feel I made good gains. I have every intention of going next spring with several friends.

The accomodations at this program were adequate and the meals were very good and plentiful. Although being a novice photographer with modest equiptment, I was given enough attention to make this a very interesting and informative program. The instructor was very knowledgeable and shared his expertise in a manner that was easily understood. I would highly recommend this program.

My wife and I are ardent photographers with a wealth of experience that goes back to 1956. Our cameras are D60 Nikons with supplemental lenses. Our latest programs have all been keyed to photography. This is the best program that we have attended since day one. We expect to repeat this program this spring. The Louis/Beatrix Pita team are outstanding. Their assistance in composition and the mechanics of photography made our stay in this beautiful corner of South Carolina an enchanting time. Our sleeping quarters, transportation and instructional facilities were more than adequate. Our surroundings were Fall foliage, mountains lakes and all of the wonderful things to be found in this region at this time of the year. We both thank you for a job well done. You may use my comments in any way you see fit. John L Bonham and Margaret V. Bonham

Thin walls were a bit of a problem.
Had so much to do, even when I wasn't particularly thrilled with a spot, the next spot more than made up for any perceived "lack."
Organization was outstanding; it was evident much thought (and ?pride?) had gone into making participants' experience positive.
Would I do it again? Definitely yes. Would I recommend it to others? Definitely yes.

This was the best Elderhostel photography workshop I have attended. Luis is a superb teacher and Beatriz is great on the computer and a big help in getting our images on the big screen for critique. Luis has taught photography for many years and is good at it. He is also patient with those who do
not fully understand their camera's capabilities and he takes the time to show them them exactly how to use their particular model camera.
If Luis and Beatriz were teaching at another site, I would sign up for a second go round. I learned a lot and got some very nice images.

This was my first photography workshop ever, and I found it to be exceptional. It exceeded my high expectations. I consider myself an amateur photographer and was thrilled to learn how to take better photos by an improved understanding of the principles of photography, and how to use all of my camera. The instructor was not overly demanding yet did expect to see improvement--a nice blend. He was patient, working with me until my questions were answered. On all our field trips, he was right there to make suggestions and answer questions. In the "classroom," I found his lectures, critiques, and labs valuable. And his sense of humor was contagious. Our group was congenial, eager to help each other, and fun loving. We went to many scenic areas in northwestern South Carolina, including waterfalls, mountain views, gorgeous flowers. . . also historical sites. Though not luxurious, the accommodations were quite satisfactory. Meals were good and generous. Wish I could go back tomorrow.
