# of programs attended about 15 Dates of this program: Oct. 19-24 Absolutely wonderful program even though the weather was somewhat iffy. I loved the off trail experiences and the rock scrambling was something I'd never done before so that was a new high for me. Our leaders were just terrific! They were knowledgeable, organized, fun, adventurous and very delightful people. Super 8 accommodations were fine and nearby meals were excellent! I'd highly rexommend this trip to anyone who is a strong hiker and who has an adventurous spirit.

I found this program to be a wonderful, although somewhat challenging, experience. Sedona offers some of the best hiking and scenic grandeur of anywhere! Mike and John were excellent leaders, the food was good, and the accomodations very comfortable. The weather was a little 'iffy' but it all worked out fine. I think the Activity Level rating should probably be one notch above 'moderately challenging', though. Be prepared for some serious 'off trail' wandering, more like 'bushwhacking' than true hiking, as well as some scrambling up some pretty steep slopes. But we all did well and got to see some things most people don't get to see who stay on the 'beaten path'. Oh, the motel's wi-fi network is bunk. :-(

Anyone who loves the outdoors, magnificent scenery, and a great variety of hiking experiences will really enjoy this program. Every day the guides led participants on very active hikes on trails not all known to the general public while providing some geology, botany, and history information en route. Evening programs were fun and informative too.

An excellent program. I would have prefered a little more physically challenging of an itinerary but considering there were others who found the program very physically demanding the moderately challenging rating seems accurate. The group leaders Mike and John were both excellent and their intimate knowlege of the area and its trails meant that we were able to get off of the beaten path and trueluy see what the Red rocks of Sedona was really all about. For those that enjoy a little adventure scrambling over the heights rather than gazing through the window of a vehicle I would certainly recommend this program.

The perfect high-energy program for tackling the beautiful and mystic red rock canyons of Sedona, AZ. You also come away with an appreciation of the passions for the area shared by our leaders.

This was my first trip with Road Scholars and it exceeded my expectations. It was well thought out and organized. My room at Super 8 was clean the staff there was very helpful. The hiking led us to some amazing The scenery and the scrambling over rocks was both fun and exhilirating. Our guide, Mike Young and his sidekick were really good at helping navigate some of the more difficult parts of the hike. They were also very knowledgeable on the flora and fauna. I also enjoyed our two evening presentations and would have liked to have another evening talk on Indians in the area. Thanks for a memorable trip Road Scholars!

Sedona provided a magnificently beautiful backdrop for challenging and invigorating daily hikes with fun and interesting people all led by excellent and knowledgeable leaders...perfect combination for a fantastic Road Scholar trip!

This was an excellent program for experienced hikers who wanted to be challenged and encouraged to increase their hiking skills. Mike Young, the leader, is a skilled hiker and is very knowledgeable about the animals, insects, plants, history, archaeology and geology of the Southwest generally and Arizona specifically. Also, Sedona is a spectacular location for hiking. In addition, the two presenters in the evening program were of the highest quality. I would heartily recommend this hiking program and Mike Young as a leader to anyone who likes hiking.

Excellent hikes in off the beaten path areas of Sedona. It's great that it's only a short drive to each day's hike. Excellent leaders, good food and fine accommodations made for a fun trip!

Not for the faint of heart or for those expecting the advertised "moderately challenging" program. Sedona landscape is amazing but the trails selected, especially the first two days, were not appropriate for the RS level designation due to hike length and amount of rock scrambling, narrow ledges, and off trail bushwhacking. First day hike was especially problematic since there was no less challenging option presented at any time for those not ready for the inappropriate difficulty of the hike. Food and lodging were adequate or better. Logistics were smooth.

Very scenic hiking with lots of climbing. Of my four hiking trips this was the most vigorous because of the scrambling over the rocks and because the trails all had signifigent amount of rocks so you had to watch each step. Having said that a healthy hiker should have no problem and the views and the guides were tremendous
