Be prepared for all kinds of weather. Don't worry if you have never kayaked--you can always ride on the raft--the sights were great.

I've just completed San Juan River Kayaking/Rafting, and it truly is such a great program! You can choose to actively kayak a gorgeous and intriguing portion of this historic river, or you can share in the thrills while others do the rafting chores for you. Camping at night under the stars after having a delicious meal, getting to know the interesting young crew members, and having experienced, fun guides leading you on invigorating hikes that lead to little known Ancestral Puebloan sites is a remarkable opportunity. I loved the vigorous activity level! I just may do it again!

Fun and interesting trip with a great group of leaders and participants! I would highly advise going on the trip, just remember to ask for a complete packing list from the leaders so you come prepared with the necessary camping equipment (2 water bottles attached with 2 strong carabiners and a camp coffee mug, etc.). Also bring dual purpose shoes for use on the river as well as hiking. Bring a good raincoat and rain pants and warm fast drying clothing (and a handy garbage bag to contain your clothes in the provided dry sack) as you may need them. Also bring a good small flashlight for camping, and maybe a fast drying camping washcloth, also a bandana or two and lots of sun protection - sunscreen and a good hat and gloves that will keep your hands dry - also hand lotion as they will need it. The scenery is spectacular and well worth it!
