Road Scholar
Program #1076RJ
7 Days | 6 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Overall, I am glad that I went on this first Road Scholar trip because I was able to see places that I'd never been, and because all eight participants were really nice enjoyable people. There were some glitches due to National Parks closures that week, but our coordinator Amy Calhoun did an amazing job of arranging substitutions for the South Rim visit. Activity level was okay for me and I think it should be shown as more demanding than just "active" as some of our participants had difficulty. I would have liked more healthful food choices, but we all made the best of it.

We have told so many people what an amazing trip this turned out to be, that I thought that it was only fair that I should write a review! My husband and I really enjoyed every aspect of this trip! The leaders, Cowboy Karen, and Melissa, were wonderful, and we learned a lot from them while having a great time! We signed up for this trip because of the helicopter trip into the canyon, and it was as incredible as I imagined it to be! This was our first Road Scholar trip, but we are both hoping that we will be able to do many more of these trips! Great Job Road Scholar!!

A great way to see 3 views of the Grand Canyon, from the South Rim (at the top), from the bottom at a beach, from the Western Rim, then a helicopter ride to the bottom, followed by a raft trip. First Hotel was camp style but later hotels improved. The food was 3 star but adequate. The tour leaders were great! The Grand Canyon was spectacular!

My husband and I could not have been more thrilled with our first adventure with Roads Scholar. When we got home, my sister, who was house sitting, had all of my mother's pictures of the same trip with Elderhostel that she had taken many years ago. This truly was a trip honoring her memory. My Mother would always come home going on and on about the coordinators.Guess who is still doing the same? Karen Landis and John Fromm were truly angels. We can hardly wait to sign up again.

My first experience with Road Scholar but not my last. I will absolutely go on many more trips with RS. Good leaders, good companions and a great adventure. The helicopter ride and the rafting through the Grand Canyon was a nice end to the week.

A great trip, saw so much in a short time. There is a lost of driving in the van on this trip, however the sights on the road make that easy. The food is passable (always lots and well balanced) but not great (nothing interesting for a foodie). Overall this was well worth the effort, and a great value for the cost. Recommend highly!

Returned on Saturday pm from this Grand Canyon trip. It was well-planned; coordinator(s) very knowledgable and organized; fellow-travelers got along within our group. I look forward to another Road Scholar adventure!

Just returned from this program and it was absolutely wonderful. It was our first Road Scholar trip but there will be many more in our future.

The GC simply MUST be on everyone's bucket list! There are no words to describe its splendor. Hotels on this trip were pretty good; meals were mediocre. Lots of educational stuff from our guide--in fact, way too much detail for most of us.

Wonderful program. Loved the leaders, the Grand Canyon and all those participating.

Pam from South Wales, NY Number of programs attended: 2

Great program to the Grand Canyon, Prescott and Sedona. Our group leaders; Matt, Melissa and Amy made the trip extra special. Learned lots from them and Karen Landis, the AZ cowboy.
