What can I say about this class but that it was again a fun and rewarding experience. This is my third time taking stained glass at Cedar Lakes and I will be returning again in November of this year to take stained glass. I enjoy creating new things and the instructor is always willing to help you with suggestions if you are having difficulties in completing projects. I also enjoy watching and talking to other participants in the class sharing new ideas. I can't wait to go again!!!!!!!! Thanks Dave

This was my first trip to Cedar Lakes Conference Center and to participate in a Stained Glass craft class. The area is lovely (rolling hills and lakes) with excellent accommodations, dining hall and craft centers. David Houser is a talented instructor and stained glass artist. I enjoyed meeting and talking with all the other Road Scholar travelers. It was an interesting group since there were 5 classes in different areas of arts and crafts.

Our seventh (slow learners) Stained Glass class with David Houser. An outstanding individual and a talented glassworker, Dave is patient, interested in the individual's progress and attainment and quite inventive with new ideas. He devotes a lot of time with new students, too. The Cedar Lakes environment and facilities engender a quiet, contemplative locus for the harried city and country folk who attend.

If you have always wanted to learn how to make stained glass pieces, this is for you! Absolute beginners like me always go home with several finished pieces. I have now taken this class 13 times.

Dave Houser and Cedar Lakes Conference Center are both jewels in the Road Scholar programs. Cedar Lakes offers a wide variety of craft programs with outstanding instructors at a very reasonable cost. This wide variety enables spouses, partners or friends to enroll in different programs during the same week. Dave Houser, stained glass instructor, is an prime example of teachers who are skilled in their craft and can meet the challenge of both beginners and more experienced students.

If you ever get a chance to take a stained glass from David Houser, don't hesitate - jump at the chance w/o hesitation.

The craft program at Cedar Lakes is always outstanding. I have been there six times now, and have worked in stained glass during five of my visits. The instructor, Dave Houser, is outstanding and the craft house facility is well equipped and managed for all offerings. The people who take a variety of classes are always friendly and really seem to enjoy the whole creative experience. I would recommend Cedar Lakes to anyone interested in crafts. Becky Shultz

This was my first time. I was very please with the range of projects we were able to try our hand at, and our instructor Dave Houser was and excellent instructor and so very patient with us who had limited knowledge in stained glass work. I most definitely will be going back to learn and do more projects

I was back again for the third time. This time, I brought a photo of the art deco mirror I hoped to make. Our instructor, Dave Houser, encouraged me to work on it, then had some pieces for me to solder prior to doing the mirror. I was skeptical, but I got “the touch” and it turned out pretty well. We had a class of 13 with folks on many levels from beginner to proficient. One participant made four glass panels for above the windows in his daughter’s home. Several constructed beautiful, hinged boxes. There were panels of various sizes and several projects with pressed leaves. Because Dave is so very flexible, we are able to work at our own pace and our own levels. The studio/workshop is well stocked with tools, glass and all the ancillary bits and bobs that are needed. Cedar Lakes is a beautiful area where you can relax, walk around the lake, take extra time with your project and enjoy the company of the folks in the other 5 or 6 programs. It’s a perfect place for couples to pursue individual interests: wood turning, basketry, tinsmithing, quilting, watercolor and creative writing were also offered this particular week. A few photos of projects are attached

Our fifth (or sixth) Stained Glass class. In addition to the expert advice of Dave Houser, we particularly enjoy the beautiful and relaxing Cedar Lakes Conference Center. All the instructional and support staff are friendly, helpful and professional. We meet new friends in the students each year, and are very happy to see them year after year.
