Wow, this trip is wonderful, as so many people have said. We can't sing the praises of Jane Bacon enough- and frankly, you should take this trip just to spend time with her. She is the very best leader we've ever had, and we've traveled a lot. The itinerary will surprise you in its diversity and interest, including places we personally knew nothing about. Cinque Terre was lovely, but we were just as enamored by other stops along the way. Lerici is an absolutely charming coastal town...small, and with fewer tourists than Cinque Terre. Our hotel was right on the water, and we each had balcony rooms facing the water. Though the rooms are small, the hotel's location made up for it all. The lectures, the seafood, our interesting group...all were wonderful. We are so glad to have done this program!

This program was wonderful in all respects. Jane Bacon is a superb leader and lecturer. The meals (with the exception of breakfast) were delicious and varied: a seafood lover's dream come true. Rooms at the hotel in Lerici have a glorious view of the bay. We visited many interesting and beautiful towns and had the benefit of an excellent guide, Umberto.

Outstanding trip. Unique itinerary including lots of walks plus the opportunity to hike between the villages. At 70 and 72 we were a bit concerned about the hikes but we did two and really loved it. Food AND wine were great. The hotel location was fantastic because of the view and convenience to everything. Jane Bacon was the best Tour Director we've ever had. Complete local knowledge and a "can do" attitude that encouraged and facilitated our free time activities including a trip to Lucca. We highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to drill down into a small and beautiful part of Italy.

The trip was fabulous! I am still dreaming of my time spent in the Cinque Terre, Carrara and the wonderful hill towns that our tour leader, Jane Bacon, brought to life. It meant so much more to have the wonderful education about the area, life and history of this wonderful part of Italy.

This is an excellent program with a terrific Group Leader, Jane Bacon. The day trips are well organized and the hotel is in a perfect location. The walks a good and the option to hike in Cinque Terre is an amazing opportunity for the more athletic .

This program was a dream come true! Jane Bacon and Umberto were top notch in every way. Their knowledge, helpfulness, kindness, and patience were outstanding. Everyday was like living in a calendar photo shoot. If you want the best of Italy, this is it!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this Cinque Terre program. Our guide, Jane Bacon, gave us the background to explore this area with understanding. She enjoys her job as tour guide and transfers her energy to the group. We were based in Leirici which has magnificent views and many places of interest that are close by and easily accessible. The food was local, deliciously prepared and very plentiful. I would recommend this program to anybody who likes to be away from the big cities and wants to enjoy the beauty of Italy.

I signed up for the Cinque Terre program because of a review I read on the Road Scholar website. I was not disappointed. The group leader, Jane Bacon was as excellent as described. Her knowledge of the area and her warmth and availability way exceeded what one would expect of a group leader. The meals were diverse and delicious. It seems like we were exposed to every kind of food prepared in the region Bring a hearty appetite! The Cinque Terre area was amazing to see, but what I liked best was our base in Lerici, a beautiful seaside town which gave me the opportunity to be part of the Italian experience.
