EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

What can I say, but I spent two spectacular weeks walking with many wonderful folks from all over the US in two very picturesque and historical landscapes. We were very fortunate to have two great guides in Geoff and Roy as we trekked the Cotswolds and the breathtaking coastline of Cornwall. Sticky toffee pudding is now my new favorite dessert and who knew a pudding club existed?! Our accommodations were homey and inviting and they treated us to many wonderful meals. You would think with all the walking we did I would have lost weight but who could pass up the cream teas and good salty ham. This just makes me want to keep walking with Road Scholar - maybe I'll lose weight next time. And if you do happen to travel with Roy, ask him about his theory on witches! A mysterious and magical place is the UK and what better way to see it than on foot.

This trip exceeded my expectations. Walking the ancient Public Footpaths that link the countryside in Cotswold and Cornwall was a lifetime dream come true. Our guides, Geoff and "Rockin" Roy, were professional, knowledgeable and fun to be with. Each day was packed with hiking, sightseeing, tours, lectures and amazingly delicous food! The chef at Three Ways House really knows pudding! Now I understand why the famous Pudding Club meets there.

Our guide in Oxford, Brian, was terrific! It was like having your own private tutor traveling with you for the day. Many of the lectures and guided tours were outstanding.

The highlight of the trip for me was hiking the trails along the Cornwall coast. The vistas were breathtakingly beautiful, the villages welcoming and hikes were exhilarating. The combination of sea, sky and coastline were unforgetable.

Our traveling companions were always ready for the next adventure and easy and enjoyable to be with. If you are looking for a trip that combines physical activity, history, and lots of natural beauty this just might be the one.

This was a great trip with an excellent mix of hiking, sightseeing, and educational content. I recommend it to anyone who is in good shape and wants to hike in beautiful country with companionable people.

Spring in the Cotswolds is almost too good to be true! Lambs frolic in the pastures, birdsongs abound, and flowering trees and shrubs brighten narrow country roads. There may be a light drizzle during the day, but warm fires will welcome you back to your spotless Three Ways House hotel, and a three course dinner will replenish calories expended walking six delightful miles through fields, up easy hills, and into charming little villages. City guides are well versed in local lore. Our guide through Christ Church College in Oxford was charm personified. Be sure to visit the Ashmoleon Museum to view its famous collections of art and artifacts, and if there is time, enjoy a cream tea at the rooftop restaurant. Hiking in Cornwall is quite a change from the Cotwolds' simple strolls! We were thankful that we had packed our hiking sticks and sturdy, wellworn boots! Expect lots of ups and downs, expansive views, quaint fishing villages, and numerous steep steps. These walks along the Cornish coast are worth the effort! Exploring the ruins of Tintagel Castle on a gusty day was a special delight for us, as was visiting the Lost Gardens of Heligan in the rain. Lanteglos Country House has wonderful meals and comfortable rooms. The full English breakfast is huge! Two lunches are provided by Road Scholar, and the rest can be enjoyed in pubs and teahouses along the way. Graham Lenox, our guide throughout the trip, was informative, patient, and knowledgeable, with that dry sense of humor for which his coutrymen are famous. We enjoyed Graham's company tremendously! This Road Scholar trip exceeded our expectations in every way. Try it. You will love it.!
