See our Small Group programs.

ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

The Everglades and Florida Keys have a complex ecosystem that is presented in and understandable style. The program leaders are great. Wish we had more time to learn more with them.

Carole from New Hampton, NH Number of programs attended: 10
Date attended: 03/01/15 - 03/07/15
I learned so much on this Road Scholar trip to the Keys. The leadership was excellent! Howie has so much to offer in his experiences and knowledge of the area. Everything was so well organized. The accommodations were fantastic! How I enjoyed the B&B in Key West! Such a wonderful hostess!

Mary Jane from Minneapolis, MN Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 02/22/15 - 02/28/15
The guides and visits on this trip were excellent. I have never been so close to wildlife in a national park as we were at Everglades National Park, and the visit to the Dry Tortugas was spectacular. What beauty, what history! Free time in Key West was also a highlight, as were the beautiful pools and jungle-like breakfast setting at the B&B in Key West. Anyone interested in this trip should know that you spend considerable time in vans as you go from Key to Key. I had no idea they were so far apart. The meals were good too.

This trip was well planned and provided the opportunity to learn quite a lot about the Everglades and the Keys - the natural and cultural history. Howie Gieb provided excellent leadership and information - and good picnic lunches too.

Jacqueline from Overland Park, KS Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 01/18/15 - 01/24/15
A very educational and informative program. Excellent Group Leader who was knowledgeable about everything--even more so than park rangers. A fun trip--picnics in the park--a great idea for large group. No bugs, mosquitoes or chiggers this time of year--and lots of sunshine.

Joseph from Toledo, OH Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 01/11/15 - 01/17/15
Road Scholar requires you to sign a document that you waive your rights to take legal action in the case of negeligent actions of Road Scholars and its subcontractors. This practice is employed by many organizations that that are not willing to live up to their responsibilities. HELP FIGHT THIS DISHONEST PRACTICE!

Date attended: 11/02/14 - 11/08/14
I learned that what I knew about the Everglades was not factual, so now I have an excellent understanding of this National Treasure.

Judith from Morristown, NJ Number of programs attended: 13
Date attended: 11/02/14 - 11/08/14
This was an incredibly interesting program with exceptionally knowledgeable and capable leaders. As always, Road Scholar presented an organized and well planned week. Do make certain that a trip to Dry Tortugas National Park is included in your venues. Participants were welcoming and interesting.

Howie & Alberto were knowledge filled guides that enhanced my understanding of why the Keys are there and the importance of their future protection. Anyone with any interest in geology, biology or just plain beauty shouldn't miss this trip.

Kathryn from Lady Lake, FL Number of programs attended: 7

leaders were very knowledgeable. The trip was very well planned and though I was not looking forward to the picnics, they were delicious and necessary to the program... well done We both enjoyed the program. Do ask B&B in Key West to upgrade air conditioners.

Joan from Englewood, FL Number of programs attended: 5
Date attended: 05/12/13 - 05/18/13
South Florida has a fascinating ecology and has historical interest as well. Key West has an interesting history beyond being a tourist town. Just driving the Keys on your own would be way less interesting because you mostly see just facilities for tourists. The walks and lectures in the National and State Parks are well worth taking this trip.

Deb from Loveland, CO Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 04/14/13 - 04/20/13
This program was excellent in every way! The perfect mix of environment, science, natural and historic information! Loved the individuals we traveled with and the small size of the group. Best of all was our extremely competent group leader, Alberto! Would definitely recommend!
