Our guide, Helena Baltazar, not only revealed the "body" of Portugal to me, but she also unveiled it's soul.

This program was wonderful! Helena, our tour guide, made this trip very special with her attention to detail, caring attitude and terrific personality. I would definitely take another Road Scholar tour!!

The Road Scholar experience in Portugal exceeded my expectations! Helena Baltazar was the perfect guide in every way. The food and wine were fantastic. This is an amazing value and I will definitely be singing the praises of Road Scholar to my friends.

We were pleasantly surprised by our first Road Scholar trip. Not only was it a wonderful experience in terms of the program, it was a great bargain! We had wonderful food and as much wine as we cared to have at lunch and dinner. The only "extras" were shopping and meals at "free time." Our guide, Helena Balthazar, was simply extraordinary. We will take another Road Scholar trip again.

I agree with Jean from Spokane, WA that there was too much free time in Porto. Two days there and one other two-day location, or day trips out to see other places would have been welcome. We also greatly enjoyed the enthusiastic local guides and the other fun and interesting participants. The lectures were wonderful and we wish we could have had more time with the lecturers.

Enjoyable group of participants who all added to the program. The local guides were tremendous. They were enthusiastic, knowledgable, and clearly loved to tell us about the rich history and culture of Portugal. There was too much free time in this program especially in Porto where we had 3 afternoons for a total of about 16 hours without planned activities. There was not enough sights to see within a reasonable distance of the hotel and little guidance was given as to what else we could or should see. Portugese eat lots of fish(3rd highest consumption in the world) and so did we! A good trip but could have been improved by visiting at least one other area and spending less time in Porto. A day train trip to the wine producing area from the San Bento Railway Station would have been a great addition to the program. Was not aware about this possibility until I returned home and saw a program on Portugal on PBS.

We just finished "Portugal, a Heritage of Greatness in the New Europe" program number 3313 and found it highly educational. It provided a perspective of Portugal that was pleasant surprise. The lecturers and events were well chosen and we appreciated some free time to explore on our own. Food and drink were outstanding!
