ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This trip was very interesting and a lot of fun, much better than I expected. The scenery of Ecuador is beautiful and varied, from the Andes mountains to a tributary of the Amazon river to the shore of the Atlantic. There were informative lectures, nice accommodations, good food, and Eduardo, a great guide.

This was a wonderful tour. I thoughly enjoyed all the different activities (visiting a farm, making bread and meeting an indigenous family, canoeing the backwaters of the Amazon basin, visiting a rose exporting company and a Panama hat factory, etc.) The haciendas and hotels were beautiful, the meals were excellent. Our excellent guide Eduardo was always joking . in addition to being considerate of our needs. Made the trip really great.

Many people in the Seattle area are retiring to Ecuador. I went on the Many Faces of Ecuador adventure (#16488) and had a great time. The lodging locations were rated 4 to 5; the food was absolutely delicious; but, most exceptional were the wonderful travelers I had the priviledge to get to know over 12 days.

To visit Ecuador is to experience all that is good about a slower paced life. The people are gentle, shy, polite, and very family oriented. The diversity of the land is awe-inspiring - volcanoes, Andes mountains, jungle, fertile fields of every kind of vegetable, plantations of cacao, bananas, roses.... And the now-stable government supports and protects its indigenous people, ensuring their rightful place in society. Ecuador is a safe, beautifully diverse, and welcoming country not to be rushed through, but to be savored and remembered for all it has to offer.

We really liked this program. It was very well organized. The guide, Gonzalo, did a very good job. He had everything all organized so that when we arrived at various hotels, it took only minutes for all of us to check in. All the activities were very nice, interesting, well organized and enjoyable. We would recommend this trip to everyone. The only thing I would like is that Road Scholar would do other programs to Ecuador also. You may email me and ask any questions if you like: barbhicks24@gmail.com
