An outstanding trip. Such a wonderful variety of experiences and topics. Oxford is simply beautiful. Old, venerable, traditional. The hotel was in a lovely location, easily accessible, but quiet and close proximity to lovely walks and strolls. The program providers were very professional and made sure all our needs were met at all times. The kids had an exceptional time and learned a lot in the process. There was a nice mix of time spent with the kids, but also adult time to learn and explore. Warwick Castle and Blenheim Palace were special treats. I especially loved the punting down the Cherwell River. Thanks so much to the team for our wonderful holiday. I can't recommend it highly enough! Susan Mcnab and Molly

Just returned from our second Harry Potter experience in Oxford. This time was even better than the first, much to our surprise.I wish every grandparent could experience the joy of having his/her grandchild with her/him 24/7 -- memories for a lifetime are made and a closeness that is the ultimate gift is the result.

Needs Improvement: Rooms and meeting rooms were small and hot. Bedrooms and bathrooms would have been very small for three people. England was having a heat wave at the time. Met expectations: I thought the food was nutritious and varied. It wasn’t gourmet, I admit, but with all the walking and less-than-gourmet food, I lost four pounds on the trip, so I’m happy. Exceed expectations: Everything else. The programs were fantastic. Special credit goes to Deb, a 21st Century Mary Poppins, whose creativity, devotion, and hard work were exceptional; Maria, our lecturer on Tolkien and Lewis, who spoke brilliantly with no notes, and connected with the audience in a warm, genuine way; and Mel, with his poetry and stories of England. The Harry Potter studio, Blenheim Palace, the actor who played Dumbledore, the children’s books illustrator—one wonderful, glorious, experience after the other, shared with my granddaughter. Magical Oxford is right. It truly was a magical experience, with the good aspects far outweighing anything less than ideal. I strongly recommend it for a shared grandparent-grandchild adventure of a lifetime.

This was a unique opportunity to experience the scholarly life of Oxford University, and for our grandchildren to meet friends and experience the world of Harry Potter.

The program was very well handled for both age groups! The children had many great experiences and really bonded with Deb, as well as each other. There was enough time apart between grandparents and children to allow a breather, but the time together was especially nice. My grandson and I enjoyed all of the events - particularly the maze at Blenheim Palace, where he assisted me in finding my way! Days were all packed with activities and I can't think of one that could be eliminated. The Lodge food was a bit disappointing - pretty generic - and basically the same each time, however it was NOT a deal breaker for the program! The location was ideal for being family/kid friendly. My granddaughter has already begun planning for her turn in 3 years and I'm looking forward to a return.

I'd been looking forward to this trip for a long time, and it fulfilled my expectations - time with my granddaughter, subject matter of interest to her and me, and a lovely setting. Who could ask for anything more? The Warner Brothers soundstage - with the sets used for the films - is fabulous - I was surprised and thrilled, and could have stayed much longer. It stressed the number of people and skills needed to convert the books to film, and that message of "teamwork" was a great one for both children and grandparents to receive. The hotel met our needs although the food was, well, average. The meeting room was very stuffy and crowded since the weather was warm and the group was large. The children enjoyed the large lawns in between activities, playing hide and seak, capture the flag, and just generally running around and enjoying themselves. In short, we had a great time and have a stash of memories to draw from for years and years.
