A completely elegant and enriching journey into a unique island a magnificent culture ,environment and history .A botanists fantasy ! I was astounded by the vastness in diversity that could exist on such a small island .But I think the true richness was provided by each of our outstanding guides who were incredibly generous with there time and local knowledge which was limitless ,as was there willingness to share with all of us Thank you again for a once in a lifetime journey Jason

This program exceeded my expectations. Spectacular lavada walks, superb guides, abundant local food and wine, and jammed packed days with a variety of activities/experiences. Don't hesitate if you want an 'active' vacation.

I agree with everything that Jean said (see below). This was my 72nd program and it was one of the best. We had a very small group, only five, which was nice for us. But for this fine program to continue, it will need higher registrations. So please sign-up for next year. You won't be disappointed!

I'm glad this was my first Road Scholar experience, because it was fantastic! Our guide was wonderful, and my companions were a joy. The local guide in Madeira did a great job giving us a sense of the flora and fauna of the island, pointing out native and introduced species. The walks along the levadas were enjoyable and informative, and the other activities were interesting. The weather was perfect, the hotel gardens amazing, the food delicious, the companionship and laughter pleasant. I highly recommend this trip!

My first RS tour. Good group (16); wonderful guides; (finally) lovely weather; beautiful flowers, terraces, fantastic cliffs; food (primarily fish and fruit) was plentiful as was the wine (inexpensive). Swam in ocean pools (cool) and hotel pool (also cool). Muddy boots were worth every step and every photo op. Would do again in a minute!
