Super congenial group, exceptional cuisine and accommodations, Marta the wondrous guide and her excellent regional guides, and of course, the Alps under Mont Blanc. Great tour and trekking. All well done---gracias S. Marta ! Ole. Ann/Aaron Cape Rosier, Maine

Good itinerary with excellent scenery and hikes. Our guide Marta was exceptional, as was our local guide in Villars, Mireille. Fun group of people to share the experience with. Being up close, at 12,000 feet, to Mont Blanc was awesome!

Janis and I had a wonderful time. Fabulous scenery on great hikes, interesting fellow hikers, and knowledgeable guides. A bonus was that the three hotels were very comfortable and located in small villages that we enjoyed exploring.

I agree with Cindy. Notwithstanding temperatures in the '90's every day, this was a great trip. Our group leader, Hans, was superb, the hikes wonderful, the company compatible and fun, and the food outstanding. It was great to get "around" Mont Blanc this way.

What makes this trip so much fun and unique is the opportunity to stay in three Alpine ski resorts, each in a different country, and each both similar to but different from the others. There were some great visits to historical spots, towns, and alpine viewpoints. The hikes were varied but one should feel comfortable walking up to 5-6 miles a day and climbing up to 1000-1200' elevation gain, with some steep rocky trails in places. Hotels and meals were fine and an interesting mix with some good local fare and free wine about half the time. Good footwear, hiking stick(s), and layered clothing is essential. It was fun to use local trains and buses for daily transportation.

The Sept. 24th program could not have been better. We had 1/2 day of rain the entire tour meaning we had perfect weather for the entire time and the cool of the Alp's fall made it perfect for trekking. Thanks Marta for a trip never to be forgotten. I'm sure all my fellow hikers agree! Gary

If you enjoy hiking, this program will meet or exceed your expectations. This is an opportunity to see the Alps up close and personal. Experienced guides. Manageable hikes. Memorable views. No regrets. Good value.

The Mont Blanc adventure was a special interlude made up of visits to gems of Italy and France. Hans Peter was a wizard at the task of flexible control & the local guides revealed treasures we probably could not have found on our own. A moderately energetic trip meant and interesting, active group. In all, it was very worthwhile. Ed of Falcon

This is an excellent program. The scenery is awesome and the various views of Mont Blanc are breath-taking. The leadership of our wonderful leader Hans enabled us all to have a chance to have successful hikes and other options as well. The accommodations were very good and the food at Villars and Chamonix was gourmet! This hiking program also featured a gondola ride up to 12,600 feet for a great look at Mont Blanc with snow on top in August. The chance to go inside a glacier was amazing too. This trip requires that you are in good condition, have good equipment, some experience hiking in a group and can hike in a variety of conditions and elevations, but the rewards are wonderful.....from fondue, and free wine to a whole table of desserts. The people in the group were a good mix of interests and experiences with many Road Scholar trips to share. My wife and I really enjoyed our trip all around Mont Blanc in three countries and talk about it almost every day.

Had a great time on this program: spectacular scenery, good food, good company, and our guide, Hans, was on top of every detail. The hikes were a bit more challenging than anticipated, but you can always take a day off and still find plenty to see and do in the lovely villages that we stayed in. I'm very glad I chose this program.

A super tour of hiking the Alps in three countries, with an excellent multi-lingual guide and as much hand-holding as you need.

What follows is a compilation of words/phrases gathered from our 6/25-7/7 group of walking below and beyond. As you might see, we were all moved by these most magnificent mountains in a variety of ways. Special thanks to our guide, Carlota for giving of herself in an above and beyond way. Great trip-local guides were knowledgeable and hiked at a very slow place to accommodate all hiking levels. Hiking poles, hiking boots, rain gear, and layered clothing are a must! If you are an experienced hiker, the hikes are very easy. If not, they may be slightly challenging, but not overwhelming. The food was good (Villars) to great (Cogne and Chamonix), especially the breads and cheeses served at most meals! And the gelato/glacé....! Yum! The cultural experiences chosen offered good insight to the towns we visited. Our coordinator, Carlotta, was the best! She was always going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure we had a great time and that our questions were answered promptly. She is a delight! Traveling as a single woman, I felt very much included in all activities and meals. I highly recommend this trip.

Just finished this program: yes, it is moderately challenging. I did take poles and used them for many (but not all) of the hikes which are often on steep uneven rocky terrain. The weather can also be a challenge: our road scholar guide and local guides were great, reorganizing to take full advantage of the nicer days for hiking and the not-so-nice for shorter outdoor activity and indoor learning adventures. So glad we went on this tour!

This program is for those who can't wait to see the enjoy the out-of-doors, hiking on occasionally challenging trails that are worth the work because you will take in some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. Our three hotels were wonderful, with great food, and our hiking guides were informative, engaging, and extremely attentive to the needs of our group. In each location we had enough free time to shop, stroll around, and mingle with the locals. Road Scholar did a wonderful job facilitating both our travel and our hotel accommodations.
