See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Our first of many....very good overall. Fantastic weather made it even better. Exceeded our expectations from start to finish. Lyn and Fred, along with their supporting cast, saw to our every need...very conscientious. Program packed with info about local history, plant and animal life. Top-notch biking equipment matched with the terrain made the moderate pace a breeze. Accomodations a bit dated, but upgrade planned for 2015. Two thumbs up from this couple!!

If you enjoy outdoor activity such as biking and the pleasure of a low key environment and atmosphere, this is the trip for you. Every moment is absolutely delightful!

Wonderful week. No better way to discover history, beauty, and exercise, than with local top experts that show their passion for the area. The group could not have been made up of more warm and interesting people. I loved Epworth By The Sea. Their oaks built Old Ironsides. (I could go on and on.) I'd go again!

A great, fun adventure with a lovely group of fellow participants. We saw parts of the islands by bicycle, off the beaten path, that I never would have seen otherwise. Agree that Lyn and Fred did a superb job as leaders. This was my first Road Scholar trip but hopefully won't be last.

We had such a wonderful time on this trip. We rode our bikes for a total over 65 miles during our stay and it was easy riding. Our group had so much fun together visiting and enjoying the scenery and the history of the area. Every day we had lectures about what we were to see and their historical significance. Fred and Lyn were great group leaders!

We left this program after 3 days, and are very hesitant to sign up for one again. While we were having fun with the lovely people we met, neither the biking, the educational program nor the accommodations and food were as described. Activity level was described as "moderately challenging", but was far from it. Average biking speed was around 7 mph. The educational focus was almost entirely on history, and neither guide had expertise in environmental science or was a naturalist. In addition, the host site, a Methodist retreat, was not as described. There are a variety of accommodations on the site, but we were placed in the oldest, least comfortable, and with a view of the parking lot. There is no "dining room with buffet": It is a cafeteria with cafeteria-quality food. Although we filled out paperwork with our dietary needs, they were ignored. And caveat emptor: The cafeteria is "dry". There is no alcohol served and you are not allowed to bring a bottle of wine for dinner.

Even rain, wind, and chill could not squelch the fun we had on St. Simons Island! We truly we able to witness the glory of Spanish Moss, both wet-green and dry-gray.

This is a great trip to take for any level of biking ability. The pace on each of the rides is moderate ranging from 8 to 10 miles an hour. The scenery on both islands was beautiful and your guides are very knowledgeable and personable. The accommodations were excellent as was the food. This was my first experience with Road Scholar and it was a great one. I will definitely book with Road Scholar again. As a point of fact, I am looking at another biking trip in South Carolina (Blue Ridge Mountains) in the fall of 2014.

The educational value of this trip was excellent. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather. St. Simons was a busier island than I expected. If flying into Brunswick, avoid using Island Premier. There are other reliable shuttles. Leaders were fun and knowledgeable. The islands are beautiful and full of interesting history. Bikes were very manageable, clean and in good working condition. This was a great choice for me!

This program was held in a beautiful place where I had a great time biking as well as learning ecology and history of the area. I came away with a lot of knowledge about barrier islands, the people who developed them and many new friends.

I would like to give a hearty compliment to A2B Transport. Teddy was friendly and professional. She told me about the area as we traveled to the hotel. I felt she was a safe driver and most important>>She was on time!!!!!!!!!

This was a marvelous experience in such beautiful places -- two barrier islands off the Georgia coast! Road Scholar once again did not diappoint by offering such a unforgettable experience, where I was surrounded by outstanding, knowledgeable staff and like-minded participants.

The Golden Isles are lovely and the program allowed us to learn more about them from very knowledgeable presenters. Our daily rides were well planned and safe.

Very interesting program, with knowledgeable instructors. Leaders were excellent, time on, AND OFF BIKES, was just right with many stops to explore and learn. Accomodations were very good and food was excellent. Both islands are quite unique and worth the visit. Thanks for a good time.
