Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

I have enjoyed all the Road Scholar programs I have attended but this is one of the very best. The diversity and the quality of the events and the presenters was outstanding. It is not easy but even at age 87 I managed to handle it. Anne Skidmore

Visit an interesting and tourist friendly city - Chattanooga, Tennessee. It's historical, geological, and cultural sites are varied and educational. Your Road Scholar adventure will have you on train, boat, bus, carousel and on foot to transport you through time and memory!

There is more to Chattanooga than meets to eye. It is a great little city and so easy to explore, very vibrant; lots of very visionary people planning for the future. I would like to live there.

I rate the Chattanooga program right up among the best. The program is both fun and informative. Food and accommodations are very acceptable. I give this program a very strong recommendation.

This is an excellent program with very good presenters, about a lovely Tennessee city. However the housing is substandard by any measure.

Jacqueline from Las Cruces, NM Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 10/06/13 - 10/11/13
This was an outstanding experience. Great lectures by experts on this interesting and beautiful area, field trips were interesting and educational, good leadership and friendly participants. I recommend this program if you are interested in history.

Richard and Carol from Williamstown, NJ Number of programs attended: 60
Date attended: 10/21/12 - 10/26/12
Staying in the Choo Choo hotel was a delight!Meeting Bud Ellis at his carving school and later riding on his carousel was a treat! Strolling thru Rock City on Lookout Mt. at our own pace was nice. Following a caver a half mile into a cave to see Ruby Falls was tedious at times.Riding the Tennessee Valley Railroad thru a tunnel was relaxing. Listening to a historian tell of us the Civil War battles fought in the area - we caught his passion. Enjoyed the food and accommodations! Book this one!

Marvin from East Windsor, NJ Number of programs attended: 8
Date attended: 10/21/12 - 10/26/12
I had a great time. I loved the hotel. Except for the final diner, the food was excellent. The trips to Rock City, Ruby Falls, abnd the Horsin' Around Carving School were particularly great. The people on the trip were enjoyable to be with.

Linda from Folsom, PA Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 10/21/12 - 10/26/12
The trip to Chattanooga was an exceptional experience. The accomodations were excellent and the instructors were amazing. Their knowledge of the history of Chattanooga and Chickamauga made it so much more interesting for all of us. I would heartily recommend this trip.
